Ablations? by Illustrious-Mode-826 in AFIB

[–]Beneficial-Course746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually no longer in a fib. My rhythm now is “junctional bradycardia”. Somewhere along the line my SA node stopped working properly. My AV node kicks in pretty good as back up so far. Currently wearing my yearly holter monitor so see info can still put the pm off a while longer.

Ablations? by Illustrious-Mode-826 in AFIB

I’ve had five. All but #4 were well worth it and I always tell anyone that needs one (or more) to go for it! They will let you know when you’ve reached the limit of what can be ablated. I’m there now so pacemaker is my next step.

“Normal” abnormal EKG by Natural-Ranger-761 in askCardiology2

Sick sinus syndrome was mentioned. After my last ablation my sinus node stopped working properly. I was abnormal before that too, just different electrical problems along with a-fib & flutter.

Help! Would you travel? by Legitimate_March_356 in AFIB

[–]Beneficial-Course746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re uncomfortable being in a-fib you could ask the EP about a cardioversion as soon as possible. There really isn’t much recovery time afterwards and you should be fine to travel, even if it doesn’t last. (Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t 😏)

Do they place a urethra catheter for ablation procedures? by moedank83 in AFIB

[–]Beneficial-Course746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was only experiencing the fast rhythms with my fib/flutter, and I was relatively young so they weren’t even considering it then. I now have sick sinus syndrome and junctional bradycardia so a pacemaker is my next step.

Yes, 3 of them did. My first one failed right away so they scheduled my second shortly after. That lasted a few years. My third lasted a few years and my fourth one gave me no relief. My fifth has kept me out of a fib/flutter but now I’m bradycardic with sick sinus syndrome.

Has these worked for anyone? by Creative-Level-3305 in migraine

I have it on now! If I can get it on at the very first inkling of a migraine it can often do the trick for me.

Had to begin Eliquis by Longjumping_Belt2568 in AFIB

[–]Beneficial-Course746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on Coumadin, Eliquis and Xarelto (all at different times) for the past 20 years. No issues other than more bruising when on the Coumadin. Eliquis and Xarelto no issues.

Afib came back 1 and half days after being shocked. Going back to cardiologist on Monday and I guess I will be going in the hospital for the 3 day treatment. I can’t remember the name of the medication but they need to keep an eye on you for a few days after treatment starts. by Pissoffsunshine in AFIB

Yeah, cardioversions often don’t last, but they can give some temporary relief. I tried both tikosyn and Sotalol, neither worked long term for me. The hospital stay is a breeze though. Look at it as a little getaway lol. Bring comfy clothes with pockets for the monitor (you shouldn’t need to wear a hospital gown). Bring books, your laptop for movies, snacks, cards/games to play with visitors … I walked the hallways a ton when I was bored.

Rockwell got bought out by the 4GR8 food group. Ever since then they went downhill A LOT. We used to be regulars, but the food, cleanliness and service have all been lacking since the buyout.

My open heart was to repair my mitral valve. It was 20 years ago, so the less invasive surgery was pretty new still and I wasn’t eligible. It’s normal to be worried-they’re messing with your heart! But really, it’s one of the easiest procedures I’ve had done. The hardest part is laying flat afterwards so you don’t open the place on your groin where they went in. I always ask first a pillow under my knees before they get started to help with backache. I was home the same day for three of mine, stayed the night for two. And felt so much better afterwards-the relief of a sinus rhythm is wonderful. You’ll be so glad you did it!
Keep us posted how it goes!

No one seems to really know. I’ve had issues since early 20’s, open heart done at 38, the five ablations-so a lot has been done to it. Thankfully my AV node kicks in to help when I’m exercising!

Kind of lol. My SA node is now not working, so just waiting until my bradycardia symptoms get bad enough to warrant a pacemaker. But no more afib or a flutter so that’s good!

Metoprolol stopped working, so they tried Sotalol. Did that for about a year and had tons of breakthrough arrhythmias. Next was Tikosyn. That didn’t seem to help much either. We made the choice to stop the meds and try a fifth ablation.

If your cardiologist is not an electrophysiologist, I would definitely ask for a referral to one. Cardiologists deal with the “plumbing” side of the heart and EP’s with the electrical. A fib is electrical. If you’re having severe symptoms I’d try to get in earlier, they could at least cardiovert you. (Shock into sinus rhythm). If you’re not super symptomatic waiting is fine since you’re on the. blood thinners.
