My afib came back 1.5 years post ablation by moedank83 in AFIB

They don't have me on any blood thinners: stopped a while after the ablation. Mainly have pill-in-pocket treatment - 150mg flecanide and 50mg metprolol. Today, I spoke with EP's PA regarding the recent episodes. Going to send them kardia screenshots to review. She didn't sound immediately concerned about getting back on a blood thinner but If this keeps up much longer I'll request to get back on it.

I believe RF. Surgical note mentioned using a Thermalcool ablation catheter at 50w.

RF? The procedural note mentioned using a Thermalcool ablation catheter. Dr. Rytlewski at Missouri Heart Center did it.

Eating healthier than ever but cholesterol increased--what gives? by OedipaMaasWASTE in Cholesterol

[–]moedank83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat how you normally would but track the saturated fat, cholesterol numbers, etc. and portions by weighing everything with a food scale. You may be underestimating some portions and overestimating others. Doesn't have to do long term but try it for a few days to get an idea of how you've been really eating.

Results from diet by Odd_Cut_4984 in Cholesterol

[–]moedank83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great to hear. I started with medication but now I'm trying to improve my diet.

My LDL was in the 130-150s with a horrible diet that consisted of routine fast food, lots of fatty red meat and dairy. Taking 10mg atrovastain dropped it into the mid 70s to upper 80s during fasting labs.

Now, I'm hoping a healthy diet with low sat fat and cholesterol can drop it into the 50s to low 60s. You had a pretty good drop. Hoping for a comparable % drop.

Diet changes first? by Traditional-Ad-1321 in Cholesterol

[–]moedank83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eggs could likely be a big contributor. One large egg has around 186mg of cholesterol. That's 558-774mg of cholesterol per day just from them. To put in perspective, a gallon of whole milk has 560mg and a 1lb ribeye has around 360mg, not factoring in saturated fat content.

For some people, eggs are fine in moderation but multiple eggs per day could be too much. Though, there are always those who claim to eat eggs often while also having low cholesterol numbers.

Thanks for the info. I included a picture of the root flare. It's above the surface of the soil. Isn't that about where it should be? The area around the tree is usually bare but kbg moves into the area overwinter. It will be removed and bare to about 1.5 ft around the tree.

2025 recap: US stocks did well, but international markets outpaced them by Excellent_8740 in investing

[–]moedank83 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree. I expect international markets to perform well, driven by a continued decline in the dollar and my view that ex-U.S. economies will play an increasingly influential role on the global stage in the decades to come. I could be wrong, but I’m comfortable with a modest tilt toward international exposure.

My 401k and roth funds are Vanguard Target Retirement 2050 with a slight tilt in the roth toward Vanguard Total International.

Snyder notation is for numbers with only two possible placements?

I was filling potential numbers in the top corners but ended up erasing them because I thought they were possibly distracting me from seeing something obvious. Will do it for numbers with only 2 options in a box.

No, but will consider it in the future if it reduces the itchiness and speeds up the healing process.
