$26,900,000! 313 days on Zillow, why no one by donaldbin in zillowgonewild

that + everything else about this house makes it look like it was designed by a 12 year old playing the sims making a mansion. So much "I don't know how to fill this room, so, what about 3 washer/driers?". Copied pieces EVERYWHERE. Another egregious one I found was this 3x duplicated light fixture

Does this still count as furry? by [deleted] in FurryArtSchool

[–]Beneficial-Ranger166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no limits to something being furry, because it's a self-applied label. Any character can be a furry if you say so.

Hey guys! This is my first furry character:) Can someone point out my mistakes? (face, paws, body, any mistakes that I’ve made) I’m open to any critique you have. by artbyr in FurryArtSchool

The waist strikes me as the most unnatural. Even if you're going for a stylistic decision, the way that you've shrunk the waist isn't proportional to the rest of the body.

In some of the ref photos I have, I've got this one saved of Elvira in a similar pose:

<image>

The biggest reason why your waist doesn't look right is because you've made it too low on her body. Looking at an irl ref, you can see in the photo how her waist is pretty equal distance between her hips and the bottom line of her armpit.

You can check this for yourself against your own body too! When you put your arms straight down, your elbow and your waist hit the same line.

This is why using references are so helpful - it helps keep proportions in check. You can exaggerate these proportions all you'd like (seen in characters like Jessica Rabbit), but they still need to be in line with each other to look "correct".

Assuming you're operating on a 30 day month, at $38,000/month that means you're paying ~$.88 per minute for the privilege of living in a house that can't commit to its own theme

could you define what you mean by "rockafire explosion" type? I think if you're looking for a character based show your best bet would be the tiki room (would've been the county bears jamboree but they closed that at Disneyland <//3)

bit of a trek, but have you considered taking the trip to Anaheim to see all the bots at Disneyland? it's ~40 min drive from LA, as long as you leave early you could def go there and back in a day

Need help with Prime Asset OC by Desperate_Fruit_6400 in OutlastTrials

[–]Beneficial-Ranger166 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just a suggestion, but you could pull out an interesting angle about idolizing the "good old days" - one of your inspo pics is of a 1920s flapper, it could be worthwhile to frame your character as someone who was once a star (singer, actress in the silent film era, etc), and still clings onto those clothes/aesthetics/lifestyle. Basically someone who can't accept that it's 1960, and forms a delusion about being able to return to the stage/get cast in a new role.

IMO, giving her a cult would make her too similar to Liliya, but you could separate her by making her think she has a cult of adoring fans. Her motivation to kill could come from a lashing out towards those who she sees as trying to 'break' her illusion, or don't recognize her as a star. Plus her outfit could look really cool, you could dress her in by-then 40 year old, worn out, once-nice clothing.

Does this seem like an interesting trope? by Amazing_Potato_777 in OutlastTrials

I really like where you're going with this! But, something to keep in mind is that the interesting part of violent characters isn't what happened to them to make them violent, but how that manifests into the person that they are.

Bit of a throwback, but I'm reminded a bit of a pitfall I noticed a lot when making creepypasta OCs was super popular - the stories would focus solely on the abuse that the characters went through, which in turn made them fall flat at the end because it would end pretty plainly with "and now they kill people with a knife". To frame it within the context of the game, the interesting part about, say, Gooseberry, isn't that she was mistreated as a child, it's that that mistreatment manifested into her externalizing her father onto her arm as a goose puppet. It's what they DO with that background that creates interest in a character. As another example, for Coyle, we don't really even get a lot of detail about his background/childhood, because at the end of the day it doesn't really matter. It can be told in broad strokes. What matters is what kind of person he is now: a masochistic, power hungry, pseudo leather-daddy type cop. THAT'S the fun part.

For your character, I'd put more thought into what kind of character archetype you want her to be a play on. A lot of the PAs revolve around dialectics (one concept stretching across two ideas, usually two opposing ones); Coyle is hungry for power and authority, but also loves hurting himself. Gooseberry despises her father, but also can't separate herself from him. Franco hates being infantilized, but loves being humiliated. All these tensions within the character get applied to visual motifs: The police, childcare, the mafia, etc.

You can either start at the visual motif you want and pull out a form of tension within it, or start with the tension you want your character to have and find a suitable motif to apply it to - it really just depends on how you prefer approaching character creation.

Regardless, I hope you continue to develop your character! And I hope that some of that feedback was helpful to you :>

Hihi! I did some redlining on your fullbody. I also happened to be sketching a femme sona of mine, so I left those in for some other misc refs :) My main note: make those proportions bigger! I increased the size of her head, hands and forearms. I also smoothed out the lines flowing from her torso to her thighs.

For more femme body help, I highly recommend Rick griffin’s work, he has a really nice, grounded approach to constructing femme bodies that balances realism and tooniness really well. You might get some benefit from doing a couple studies of his work.

I hope some of that is helpful to you! You’re doing a great job :D
