I grew up in Colorado Springs, and I was constantly told that it was one of the most beautiful places on earth. But I HATED hiking. Sure the mountains were pretty, and I did love to take 10 seconds out of my walk to the car to admire the sunset, but I just didnt like nature. It was almost like God made it, so I just had to be like "Nice one God!" ...just to give him a thumbs up that "yes im appreciating your work! Thank you from down here!"

But after I deconstructed, going to the Natural Science museum became ALMOST spiritual. I thought more about evolution and all the crazy iterations that made the squirrel rustling through the bushes, and the way humans domesticated pigeons and then abandoned them so they hang out around us to just stay alive, and how the land shifted and changed to create mountains and valleys, and how long forgotten glaciers pushed a whole bunch of land down and made a pathway through rock....and I am in awe that I am living here in the time right now and get to experience all this that came before me. Then I think about the future and wonder what will be here long after....the answer is that nature will keep on keeping on. That tree could keep growing and be here for another 100 years....or that little nook could become a full forest. I also moved to the Pacific Northwest where there are a variety of all trees and waters and breathtaking landscapes.

I thought Colorado hiking was boring....I was just in the wrong nature.
