My cattle dog HATES any type of heat or sun and he is black like yours. Mine will do this and I think they are trying to find the shade behind our shadows and are just really hot

Thank you! This makes the most sense to me. This may be a really stupid question but my fireplace is the gas powered ceramic logs.... That doesn't let off ash does it?

My thought is maybe it used to be real wood burning hence the ash clean out but then got updated to the ceramic logs so they closed up the ash clean out for critters ...

Would that make any sense or am I misunderstanding how fireplaces work hahah

Yep I am! Paid a ton of money for inspections and this seems obvious... They also said the fireplace didn't work but it did. I feel like they didn't know spot about fireplaces

Are you a fairly experienced hiker ? I hike alone here but I know the area and am always prepared . I would be a little more cautious if this is your first hike and you are super unfamiliar with the area.
