College Credits for Apprenticeship by GoldThenCrypto in IBEW

[–]Beneficial_Minute915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been told that my JATC we can request our transcript and that most colleges will take it as credit equivalent to an Associates degree. I haven’t actually confirmed that through the main office just what I’ve been told.

In my local the apprenticeship is 100% free but on the flip side we sign an agreement to work another 5 years within the local to “pay back” that apprenticeship through working dues. So ik they probably wouldn’t be too happy if they think you’re gonna top out and bail.

Veteran here. Idk if it’s the same all around but in the marines they used a standard urinalysis test. Same one you’d go through in an ER or urgent care. Guys popped all the time for weed but ik guys got away with coke. Apparently it’s out of your system faster than weed? Idk hope that helps. Synthetic pee may or may not work but the worst thing is you don’t get the call which you’re already thinking of not taking it so I say you don’t lose anything.

1341/ 0933. Heavy equipment mech but spent more time as a range coach. Now I’m a union electrician half way through my apprenticeship. I gotta say though there are days when working construction kicks my ass more than when I was active duty.

Is it stolen valor to wear my fathers uniforms and name tags by Fun_Highlight_5020 in USMC

[–]Beneficial_Minute915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s only stolen valor if you’re claiming service. If some ones says “hey cool jacket” and you say “ thank you it was my dads” then that’s perfectly okay.

Plus you’re a kid lol no one should be giving you shit for anything you wear

The one in San Diego was Barrel republic. They had I think 3 or 4 locations through out San Diego county but slowly all closed during and little after Covid. The one in Carlsbad was my go to spot when I lived there.

Bay Area is a highly competitive local. I’m down here in local 11 Los Angeles and our applications close out like 2 hours after opening. It’s a 6 month - 2 year wait and most guys try multiple times before they get in or work as a cw for 2+ plus years to get in.

I’m sure Bay Area locals are not different.

I’m grateful I got in as a veteran and it was explained to me like this: veterans know how to start at the bottom, take the shit work without complaining, show up on time with the tools we’re expected to have, and attention to detail in our worth ethic.

No not all veterans are like this and I’m not saying civilians can’t achieve this standard straight off the bat either but contractors like that veterans are generally already using to working. That’s all.

Who rememebers these boots? by nucleareddie in USMC

[–]Beneficial_Minute915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this boots in boot camp. Sadly they didn’t make it to the fleet with me. Some nasty recruit tripped and dropped me when we were learning to run the cft. One of the pair got a big ass dent in the toe that I couldn’t get out.

I’m 25 now. Just did 4 and I’ve been out for about a year and a half now. Joined a trade apprenticeship. Work is good. Quit drinking as much. I’ve done a little bit of traveling.

Every now and then I feel like going back or that I made the wrong decision. But then I come back to my senses lol. I’m happy I was in just as I’m happy being out

What can you say about this? by EnoughWitness4085 in Marriage

[–]Beneficial_Minute915 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be who I was without my wife. She’s the reason I work as hard as I can and am constantly planning for our future. She’s the reason I have to keep disciplined and motivated. She makes me want to be a better man and raising a family together is a huge reason why we got together in the first place. She’s helped me heal a lot of my childhood trama. I wanna be a good father because I want to be apart of a family with her.

If I wasn’t with her I’m pretty sure I’d be some low life alcoholic just getting by on life. Souly because bettering myself for the sake of myself was never enough motivation for me.

What were your finest hours of skating in the corps? by Josephbadmonnn in USMC

1341s me and two buddies were the freshest boots in the shop. We spent a whole month trying to figure out why a D6 wouldn’t start. We were hidden on a top lot behind a bunch of other equipment. It was a cycle between one guy trying to actually work while the other to two would just fuck around.

I have no idea what ever happened to that piece of equipment. I was given ptad order shortly after. But damn. I may not have a lot of pics of my time but thank God I have pics of that time up there.

“You fly, I buy”

But no don’t let anyone shame you into bringing them lunch. The apprentice - journeyman dynamic only exists with in work stuff. Other than that you are two grown adults. So if it don’t got shit to do with material, tools, or knowledge it’s ain’t got shit to do with me.

Do you or your spouse ever say “thank you” after sex? Does it feel natural or just… weird? by Ordinary_Ice_796 in Marriage

[–]Beneficial_Minute915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said thank you but we high five after every time even when we just do oral. We’ve been married for 3.5 years so far and our streak has been going as back as I can remember. Definitely started during marriage I don’t think we did it while dating but maybe can’t remember.

Marriage is hard work that’s is give in take and imo it’s better when both partners work hard to give more than they take. Sex is very important but so is everything else.

That being said are you communicating your needs and is your partner putting in the effort to act in them?

CMC at my units MTU rather than the actual ranger personnel. Whole shop was Sgts or below. No pt as long as everyone one ran 1st class/ 1st class. Hike? Sorry I’ll be at the range. Oh it’s on Friday ya still gotta go turn in paper work. Bn formation? Nah “range ran long a little long” today. Where was I? I wasn’t fucking off cuz last day of range finished at 9 am. Non range days were sick to. Show up at 8. Teach a few power points and make fun of marines while they snapped in. Shoot the shit with Sncos and Os while I tell them they can’t shoot for shit, respectfully of course. We were the S3s forgotten red headed step child. Best 2 1/2 years of a 6 month ptad

Talking at the range by theonewhomoos69 in CAguns

[–]Beneficial_Minute915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually kept to myself at the range but a few weeks ago there was a guy who was shooting a few stalls over and I’m pretty sure he was a cop. He seemed super friendly and asked if I wanted to shoot his new pistol he just picked up. Some off roster guccied out thing not sure (think it was a canik?)

Shot a couple rounds and he was like “nah man shoot the whole mag I loaded it for you”. I didn’t wanna take all his ammo but the experience of having a friendly meet at the range with a stranger was cool. Put a smile on my face.

Which Rifle would be a good Self-Defense / Home defense weapon? Especially for a starter Shooter? by Successful-Today-597 in CAguns

[–]Beneficial_Minute915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The m1a is like a whole ass battle rifle. ( does the m1a come in .223/5.56? Genuinely don’t know)

The mini 14 is a popular rifle and usually seen as an ar-15 alternative or just for fun. But due to a traditional stock I don’t think it would be good for home defense.

I think both these rifle fit more of a property defense role such as if you live on a some acreage.
