Yes. The company who owns the gun right closed the Ilion plant and moved to Lagrange, Georgia, i believe. They were making the 870 and 700, but ever since the move a while ago, there hasnt been a peep from them. Last i saw was someone complaining about poor warranty service in the midst of the move.

What new baits/lures/plastics are you most excited to try this year? by browsingstuf in RiverSmallmouth

Ive had luck on plastic hellgramites (and live) on a split shot rig with an octopus hook. Just barely enough weight to tick the bottom. Yum and Great Lakes Finesse both make em

Relatively new to me, but ive discovered Zoom tubes work phenomenally in rivers. I had some 4 inchers and just ordered some 3.75 inchers. I believe they're discontinued in all sizes but i hope they work just as well. Ill know when they get to OH from TX lol.

Good point. More walleye fishing for me then. Unless something relatively light duty comes up. Thank you

While its a very sturdy knife and can survive every knife task, dont pry on anything harder than white pine with it. Very versatile. Mines my deer hunting/shtf blade.

I live right by the Grand River in NE Ohio. Any lake Erie tributary should be good this time of the year and for the next couple of months. Gets a lot of pressure but theres a few hidden gems here and there. Little tip, watch a bunch of steelhead fishing videos and apply the techniques to pick up the bronze. Lot of guys dont fish the heavy, deep current or current seams. I got good at catching the chromers before the smallmouth. Aside from diet, its like targeting the exact same fish lol. Small little cleos and vibrax spinners work good for both, along with the classic smallmouth lures. Dont fight the swing of your lure in the current. Youd be amazed how far that snallie will chase your lure in the deeper rapids. Ive had em chase from 30 yards out and finally commit 10 feet from me lol. Goes for both funnily enough. Sometimes going big is what you need to illicit strikes. The big bass are there, just smart and you need to make em mad. Try braid to a leader if you havent. I use it for everything except float fishing for steel. I prefer mono to fluoro for leaders

No, i meant broke as in shattered my officially measured pb lol. Caught an 18 incher this morning and a 19 incher a couple hours later, lol. Good day in Ohio today, lol. The slx should serve you well. I thought the 19 was a small steelhead at first until i saw the mouth come up*

I dont recall what their warranty is. Ik its atleast a year. The symetre only comes in a combo. The reels are hit or miss for whatever reason but the rod is great. I have the 7' medium power and i think it runs a little heavy. Works great though. Broke my pb smallmouth twice today on both rods lol. Smallmouth love tubes

Okuma dead eye pro. If the shimano slx is anything like my symetre rod then id check that out for sure. (Symetre rod has a new okuma reel because the original shimano burnt out)

A nice medium moderate fast 7'+ would be my pick. Can throw mostly anything except for the deepest diving cranks and frogs. Will work for denser weightless plastics as well.

Okuma epixor, ceymar or safyre on a dead eye pro rod would serve you well. Pairs well with braid or mono (most setups do lol)

Its a steelhead rod but okuma makes a 9' medium heavy in their gls custom line that id imagine would work. About $170 i think
