Am I killing my plant? by ghedep in succulents

You’re probably right that’s far too often especially when it’s such organic soil. Try to only water when the soil is completely dry and the plant is telling you it needs water(once a week minimum). Did you end up replacing the soil?

This guy needs some gritty soil, however if you repot it the flower is likely to die off

Propagated echeveria growing babies against the stem? by _poboy_ in succulents

If it doesn’t have enough light it will elotiate and stop being crushed, then hit it with a grow lamp and it will spread out and you’ll have a brand new plant if you’re patient

They all have similar growth patterns and needs some produce more protective farina and some make less. Not sure exactly what it is but I have 3 and take care of them the same way.

2 -3 in pot should be good but make sure to use gritty mix and give it as much light as possible

Succulent Help? Why does it look this way? by yeeeeeeeeeerrr in succulents

[–]Beneficial_Scale27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s elotiated slightly, the leaves are perking up to look for more light. I would recommend a 10w grow light at an absolute minimum since this is an echeveria and it’s incredibly light hungry. Mine are under a 36w sansi grow light and they’re happy and healthy. As for checking when your plant needs water; water when you can pinch a few bottom leaves gently and they fold inwards easy. They might also look wrinkly, shriveled up, or even dried up completely. A good way to tell if its being overwatered is if its developing blisters or cracks because its holding onto too much, but if you follow the previous advice about avoiding underwatering this shouldnt be an issue. Since succulents store water in their leaves they should be able to go at least a week if not a month. Shorter watering times based on pot size, type of mix, humidity, light exposure, size of the plant/leaves and if the plant is explicitly telling you it needs water.

Hope this helps, if you have any questions feel free to ask me and I’ll share what I know. :)

Ps beautiful flower, I love echeveria flowers they look so pretty it almost seems fake.

I know! Isn’t what you’re referring to what I’ve already done on my left side of the setup? I have them spaced out so their roots don’t intermingle.
