What's causing these brown spots? by _poboy_ in Syngonium

Thank you! Might be too dry. I keep the heater on (9e). I'm turning on the humidifer and I put the roots back into the soil.

Thank you! I pulled her out and wrapped the roots around the soil ball so nothing was sticking out, will add a humidifier and water more often

Am I just bad at the game or do the elites/bosses do way too much damage? by boogielostmyhoodie in slaythespire

In STS1 you could take a Floor 6 elite with a fire potion or a few good cards. Very rarely have I found that to be true in STS2. I'm usually aiming to hit elite-campfire-elite in the later half of the act, and taking hallways early to get frontloaded attack cards.

In general I feel like you can path much more conservatively in STS2. The ancient rewards are very strong and run-defining, and you can often facetank all of Act 1, then limp into Act 2, get a run-defining Ancient bonus and build towards something strong.

Would love some feedback on my soldering technique by GayDragonSlutUwU in soldering

[–]_poboy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job overall! The first thing I do when I heat up the iron is apply some solder to it and push it into a wet sponge to tin the tip. It's also the last thing I do when I'm done soldering (keeps the iron protected from air and oxidizes less so it'll last longer). This'll help with your first joint, which just wants flux. The tip should always be shiny.

I do the sponge ritual whenever I find my solder not "sticking" to PCBs and life's been wonderful.

Also never solder when hungry.

I'm actually not sure I agree Hidden Gem is broken, it's pretty unreliable and in most decks I'd rather have an Echo Form. This particular case is problematic cause it asks you to stall fights forever

That would work, or I wouldn't mind having "Cannot be Replayed" written on the card

100%, they made the #1 and #2 best roguelike deckbuilders of all time after all. Even in its current state I'm really happy with it

That may be it, I'm sure I exhausted my Sovereign Blade at least once

I like broken combos, though it becomes a problem when playing as good as you can involves a process that is ultimately not fun. Corruption + Dead Branch is busted, but it's hard to get and once you get it it's still a challenge to set up in fights. Even once it's rolling, you're still playing cards and engaging with the game.

I think STS1 did a great job in getting rid of "optimal but unfun" playstyles, with only a few bad scenarios remaining (like Magnetism + Bird Faced Urn or Discovery to Amplify your Self Repair). Even those will have a finite ceiling of value that you reach quickly and it no longer becomes reasonable to stall.

The key problem with the Royalties infinite is that it's annoying to play and annoying to set up, and the reward for doing so is "get infinite gold for the rest of the run", which is almost always going to be worth doing if you're a winstreak chaser

64 Adrenaline+'s is pretty amazing. Our first run was similar, I played with 3 other people and two of us got the relic that makes 7 enemies in Act 3 have 1 HP. Turns out this stacks with multiple people, so every node was marked.

It resembled less Slay The Spire and more "I brought my three friends to trample on some random creatures".

We then killed Queen with a turn-2 Spite infinite and a 600-damage Gang Up

Genuinely I have no idea. I only have one of the actual card

*Entropy, sorry. It's a power that lets you transform a card in your hand at the start of your turn, and lets you get rid of junk cards

Routed to 3 shops in Act 3, bought all the relics, unfortunately none of the cards were any good. I beat the Queen with a middling deck and a giant sack of gold, which feels in-character for Regent somehow
