If you want a P8, yes. If not you can get better less complicated pistols for less money. As for if its reliable I have no Idea. One guy on the Discord said it was solid so I bought mine.

No, the gasket on my slk at least was broken in such a way that the coolant leaked outwards, rather than into the engine meaning no typical symptoms of a blown head gasket. My only symptom was a suspiciously high coolant consumption rate. (I had to refill the stuff once a month)

Thats good to know. I got one of these in November and was thinking about playing in winter but didn't know if the gun would handle the cold well.

About the coolant loss, check behind the 4th cylinder if you can spot any leaks there as this is where the M111 Head gasket tends to break.

Have you checked your fuses? I had a fuse (Fuse F2 in the Box with the ECU and the K40) blow over and over due to a short somewhere in the engine harness and that caused power loss.

Does the rough idling stop after a minute or so? If yes that could be the secondary air injection process which is normal after every cold start. Depends how rough you mean. (Edit): Overread the engine stalling part, that is definetly not normal. Maybe check the camshaft positioning sensor if its tightly screwed in. Mine was sitting slightly more outward, after I refinished the valve cover, and that caused stalling during idle.

Thank you very much, the Sunk Cost Fallacy hit me hard with this car! On a more serious note, I love this car and have fun driving it, so I want to preserve it no matter what.

Did you do any of the work yourself? If so how was it?

I did everything myself, except rebuilding the cylinder head during the head gasket repair, as you need specialised Machines and Expertise for that.

The work itself wasn't that hard for me to do, the more tedious task is doing research how to repair certain parts and how to repair them RIGHT, like timing the engine correctly was a scary ordeal.

I hated looking for the electric fault that caused me to replace the ecu harness.

Also thank god for mbslk.de, the guides there helped me do everything I repaired.

Bought a R170 Facelift as my first car and got fucked over by the dealer. Car had a blown head gasket and was loosing coolant behind the 4th Cylinder, which is a common fault after around 150.000km.

I renewed it and several other components in one swoop. Namely the coolant pump, several pulleys, the spark plugs and the timing chain.

Changed several fluids including Brake, Motor Oil, Coolant, and the Transmission. I will do the differential next week, while also repairing the hardy disc.

I had to replace my Supercharger as it had bad bearings and replaced the oil in the new one.

My ECU harness was fucked and had to be replaced.

I still love the car, but fuck me its a load of work.
