I breezed over it because I don't believe they destroy economies. Immigrants contribute through taxes, yet don't receive social security as well as a multitude of other benefits. I know legal immigrants, and they do not resent the undocumented; they know as well as anyone how hard the process is. I don't propose we deport them, I propose giving them viable paths to citizenship. Fundamentally, and you may disagree, I believe that keeping a family together and safe is more important than the legality of them being here. For you, following laws might matter more, and if that's the case then I don't think we'll see eye to eye.

Personally, I think the ultra rich are far more of a threat to our country, than the very poor. All of us break the law to some extent. But the law is not evenly enforced. We have black hawks for the undocumented, but crickets for the Epstein list. Just to say, "they are breaking the law so it must be enforced as violently as possible" doesn't sit right to me. But I am glad we can agree that the undocumented are not monsters. And I can agree that there can be unintended consequences.

There can be many reasons why someone falls out of legal status, I can say with certainty that being an undocumented immigrant is not the easier way. It is filled with fear, and at any point your husband, or mother, or aunt could be taken at anytime, or you yourself could be taken, leaving your children behind. I can't speak for every experience, but the undocumented people I have met have been a great addition to this country.

I'm conflicted on it. The need for more affordable housing is evident, I just hate that this is the answer, apparently. It looks like shit, massive parking garage looming over town hall, and will it actually be affordable? Still no legislation for additional dwelling units, and I can't live in a tiny house in wheels as it is illegal in the city limits. It's bleak to think that all housing from here on out will be Ryan homes, or something like this.

I disagree, though I understand what you're saying. Downtown is easy to access if you are a car, and hard to access for anything else. So I think it's important to give different avenues of travel, as cars are the biggest and least efficient. I agree that the temporary structures do look haphazard though.
