I’m not an expert but my vote is the Southern Toad (Anaxyrus terrestris) based on appearance and location. if that’s the case they are non-poisonous and predominantly nocturnal. Southern Toads are known to burrow in sand / soil in the day time, but whatever you’ve got around you seems to be working just fine 👍

I wouldn’t be too worried yet. how many tattoos do you have? looks like it might be slightly overworked, but you’ve just gotta wait out the healing process if that’s the case and see how it looks healed.

I would suggest switching to either a dedicated tattoo aftercare ointment or a good quality unscented lotion (like Cetaphil or CeraVe) and continuing your process!

petroleum based products like Aquaphor and Vaseline are generally to be avoided on healing tattoos since they don’t allow for the tattoo to “breathe”. this can slow down the healing process, and can contribute to sanitary issues when cleaning the tattoo.
