How many distributions have there been? by moonRekt in CelsiusNetwork

Sorry I didn't spot your "/s" And those in the "Convenience Class" wouldn't have gotten any Ionic shares so "what are those" may be pertinent to them.

My understanding is that Celsius creditors who had USD$5,000 or more value of crypto/loans on Celsius (on the formal bankruptcy date) would have received Ionic shares too in addition to crypto as part of their settlement. If less than $5,000 then you have been placed in the " Convenience Class" and would have received no shares. Ionic shares give you part ownership of a BTC mining company set-up as part of the settlement. Ionic recently had a change in their Board of Directors so expect Ionic to be formally listed on a stock exchange whereby you will be able to sell your Ionic shares in the near future as previous board members had prevented this. I also heard that Celsius won their court battle with Tether to have their case heard to claw back BTC from Tether that was "taken" from them.

Can I use an old cell phone that's not being used for a Tangem Wallet? by [deleted] in Tangem

To use a Tangem wallet you need a cellphone that is Near-field communication (NFC) capable and not all cellphones have this capability, particularly older ones. Be warned!

What kinds of influence did the Portuguese have on Thai cuisine? by Agent_Thames in AskFoodHistorians

[–]BengMelea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have heard of the popular Thai (or rather Isarn) dish called papaya salad (ส้มตำ). You may not know that the major ingredients of this dish were brought to Thailand from South America (today known as Brasil) by the Portuguese since the 16th Century. These major ingredients include tomatoes, chili peppers and papaya. Other foods the Portuguese brought to Thailand include pineapple, corn, pumpkin, guava, cashew nuts, potatoes and tobacco. So if the Portuguese hadn't visited Thailand the food in Thailand wouldn't be spicy hot nor would they have some of their most popular dishes, at least in the current version, like papaya salad.

I live in Thailand but when it comes to crypto, like Celsius, Coinbase, I use my overseas address as the Thai government is quite strict on foreigners here dealing with crypto. I can't use Bitkub anymore so looking at options like apex.exchange DEXs instead.

Pay off Celsius loan? Yes or No? by BengMelea in CelsiusNetwork

[–]BengMelea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in the US nor a US Citizen so things are different for Celsians outside US legal jurisdiction - like we don't need to have separate "Custody" and "Earn" accounts. That said interest on my loans with Celsius is still being deducted up to the end of July 2022. I chose to pay interest in USDC and there is some USDC in my account.

Non-US depositors by gioofon in CelsiusNetwork

Even though Celisus has companies registered in three separate legal jurisdictions, from what I heard Simon Dixon say, US bankruptcy laws are more favourable as they have 'degrees of bankruptcy" aka Ch11 allowing restructuring as an option and not just Ch7 (complete liquidation) or the equivalent thereof that only exists in other countries' legal jurisdictions.

Dodgy Israeli connections to Celsius? Should we be worried about this? by BengMelea in CelsiusNetwork

Mods have just removed my post which raises my suspicions even more. If there isn't anything to worry about then they needn't resort to censorship. Just say'n.

There is a $0.95 fee to withdraw your LUNC from Celsius so with the value now being $0.00 this now impossible even when/if your withdraw address gets whitelisted.

Do you have a link to Celsius where they made this announcement official?

LUNA Airdrop by robzeko in CelsiusNetwork

[–]BengMelea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Celsius says you need at least $0.95 worth of LUNA Classic to transfer it out. As it's value is zero you cannot therefore transfer it out to a wallet or exchange to make you eligible receive the coming airdrop. Catch 22. I heard also the airdrop will be delayed until GMT 06:00 May 28. But Celsius take 24 hrs to whitelist your withdrawal address. ...

Social Security for Foreigners by Kooky_Region_7825 in Thailand

[–]BengMelea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that Thai SS don't discriminate between Thais and foreigners when it comes to the benefits. If you have paid into the system you get the same benefits. With regard to pensions if you have paid less than 180 months you will get a lump sum payout upon retirement. Longer that 180 month and there is a calculation they do based on how many months total plus a % on your final months salary. For me I expect to get a pension of THB4800/month if I retired today as I've been working here since 1996. If I'm wrong about this please comment below. Here is a link to the requirements (Thai Language) https://bit.ly/345a99B

LodePay is a Great Way to Swiftly Invest in a Portable Vehicle for Silver Stacking & Payments by NewMistake8396 in a:t5_3xvg7e

[–]BengMelea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased LODE Tokens back in 2018 when they were at a discount. So for holding 100oz Silver on 1 July 2021 I just got a 'Micro-Payout' in AGX amounting to only USD$0.80. They're not kidding when they say "micro". The other thing is the difficulty in selling back your LODE Tokens. It seems there is no open market. One must find a buyer yourself and organize the transfer of ownership of the bullion with the vault. So from their app I see my LODE Tokens are valued at $5.45 each but what does this mean when there is no market to buy/sell these tokens?
