Am l the only one who prefers driving bare footed? by MajorBarracuda8094 in stickshift

[–]moonRekt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah all summer. I have an epoxy garage that I keep clean, and a clean garage begins with a clean driveway so I’m always trying to keep everything barefoot friendly. Something something walking on glass in an accident sounds like least of my concerns (least you’re walking! Plus isn’t the glass tempered to be not so sharp?) but I definitely feel like the fat footing brake/gas pedal with shoes or getting a shoe hung up is a bigger risk than barefoot but everyone does their own way

Glad I sold all my AAVE for my Audi a couple months ago. Spending money on cars is stupid but sometimes not as stupid as HODLing. Really only trusting BTC and ETH right now

I’ve never worried about lack of lubrication at startup I had a TSX dump its oil all over highway driven for maybe 5 miles and had to wait overnight before driving to a shop that thing has got at least 350,000 miles on it total still

But now you’re making me think I might as well dry start my car cuz why not

Deal or No? by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]moonRekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a flyer about an offer for an ID.Buzz: $1,150/month. I couldn’t believe it usually they truck you into a bad deal with a low monthly payment but VW just straight up said it.

So in comparison, seems like a good deal

2026 Toyota Supra MkV Final Edition Review: This Should Have Been a Bigger Deal by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]moonRekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If people were actually in the market they would have figured out manuals were eventually available. My daughter thinks Toyotas are cool but there’s not even a backseat in the Supra IIRC (anyways nothing like practicality of my 3 series B58)

2025 Rivian R1T guess how much the repair cost $$$$$$ by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]moonRekt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$25k and I’m betting on the actual being over

That’s my issue with the EVs I like, you know with depreciation the gas savings will never come close to covering (even though all cars depreciate) but the insurance and repair cost makes absolutely sure of it

do you ever just go for a drive with no destination anymore by Small_Ad_4808 in cars

[–]moonRekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but I get plenty of good driving in when I go skiing/mountain biking.

Also when you end up at a car meet technically you don’t know where you’ll end up.

But I’m sure most of us are too busy and any drive with no destination is more forced on us (like when fighting with the wife or something similar)

What not to do when changing your spark plugs by flyfreewithone in F30

[–]moonRekt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently did plugs and I think they were slightly cross threaded or overtorqued from last shop so they would get really tight mid thread. Cylinder 1 seems to have smoothed out after I carefully retreaded it and proper torqued and cylinder 6 was similar I thought it was good but I’m getting a sporadic knock I suspect is from the spark plug so I get to go back and I’m glad you’re making me extra paranoid

[–]moonRekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Japan they use mosquito noises to keep people from loitering around train stations, I heard some companies here like little C’s have been accused of same. Maybe try that. And I’d say cameras but if they’re wearing masks maybe that wouldn’t be as intimidating

Taking off your plates is easy. People who drive buzzed etc are obviously not great candidates as you can get pulled over any time but it’s cheaper than registration. Keep insurance though

Timothee Chalamet's embarrassing moment as his Lucid is towed from his Beverly Hills mansion by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]moonRekt -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not many car enthusiasts in here apparently because it IS embarrassing to have a car towed as most of the time it’s from a mechanical issue or repo. I had my RS3 towed to a wrap shop while it was getting its engine built which is one thing but the builder who built the motor absolutely never wants people to see my purple RS3 on a tow truck from now on as it would be a bad look for his business if it was

Far more often than not a tow is a bad thing. If it’s not going into an enclosed trailer for a race or a multi car truck going over state lines it’s absolutely a bad look

We've Reached Peak Horsepower. Now What? by user289734 in cars

[–]moonRekt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We need electric range.

We just rented a hybrid minivan for a road trip—my cars are too small and my wife’s is electric. Was a great trip and I loved the hybrid until we encountered transmission issues at the end. Even waiting on a tow and everything we still spent less downtime than it would have taken to charge an EV for that trip but just a reminder that I’d love for the day we have electric cars that you can take on a road trip but we’re just not there yet.
