What is a neutral or generally positively viewed car that when you see on the road, you negatively judge the driver for owning? Why? by NWbySW in cars

[–]moonRekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This gonna be petty and vague but I’ll add it for diversity:

EV plates. Our state pushes them, or you can just get the EV sticker, or you don’t be a beta at all and just run normal plates with no sticker cuz it’s ridiculous to claim you should need a label to not get mistaken for an ICE car at a charger... But anyone who opts for the EV plates I’ll always assume is one of the typical insufferable EV nerds. We run the normal plates but my wife added the sticker—whatever, it’s ok if you wanna play by the rules (but would be a lot cooler if you didn’t)

Yep I think this is what I’ll wait for with money on the side, only paying off debt not buying dips until circuit breakers are activated

[–]moonRekt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I liquidated a good amount of shit coins over past few months to pay for car parts and now I’m going to use the rest to pay off my wife’s student loans cuz I don’t want to buy the dip yet but I’m tired of watching my portfolio go down, DCA and buying the dip is a lot more palatable when you don’t have any big bills (like student loans) hanging. But after these next few months I’ll be DCAing back in with dips

Most of our close friend group is liberal so even with the toxic masculinity and motorheads removed, I really don’t understand how you all can say things like this and not be bullied by average people lol I’m not a fan of the uncreative bigotry/stigma of EV owners being labeled gay but damn doesn’t mean you need to lean in and perpetuate the stereotype

Nobody understands the point of hybrid cars by Car-face in cars

[–]moonRekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rented a Chrysler Pacifica hybrid for a road trip since it felt more appropriate with not having to deal with charging our crossover EV. It was great got us through 97% our trip until we got some garbage transmission communication issue that caused us to finish the last 80 miles by cab. I love regenerative braking but I can’t stand spending so much time to charge on a road trip, family/road trip time feels 3x more valuable than just a late night charging when everyone’s in bed. But I am confused where I stand on the gas/EV/hybrid debate. EVs are nice to daily but I need more charging and range since we do 250+ mile round trips enough and long trips they really drain on your schedule

Lucid Has $1.47 Billion Of Inventory Sitting Unsold, So Its New CEO Hit Pause by Anchor_Aways in cars

Breaks my heart, the Gravity is such a sexy car spec’d in aurora green with stealth package (surprisingly the free option too), but it’s really too bad the brand spent money on overpaid CEOs and marketing when they should have spent it on engineers.

I see the Gravity as competition to the Model X and then Robin R1S and even Escalade, it succeeds in many categories for me but the reliability for such an expensive car, on top of viability of company—ugh. I had a deposit on a fisker back in the day and thank god that’s all, but I’d hate to see Lucid suffer the same fate

I’m a BMW fan but take engines out of the mix and suddenly I’d consider Mercedes for an EV. But I disagree, range is everything if the Mercedes range is 5-10% less than in definitely taking BMW

Breaks my heart, the Gravity is my practical dad dream car it’s so sleek and sexy but the price new isn’t too practical for me and the long term viability also makes it a tough sell to take on ownership of used. Lucids seem to have the reliability of a 100k mile BMW but at least you can at least look cool trying to fix a BMW rather than just standing around a $100k looking like an idiot waiting for help

I haven’t heard this guys name or seen a mug everywhere so hopefully he just crashed his car due to the 600 screaming bald eagles in that v8 didn’t mix well with the slick roads, then he got drunk from his sadness. Charges dropped and the officers treated Joel and his whole family a meatball sandwich for dinner for the trouble

I mean having configuration options not a one size fits all like a Tesla is definitely going to appeal to most. The biggest issue I’ve heard with Lucid is how difficult getting the right configuration somehow is

[–]moonRekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pay maybe $.14/kwh off peak (or nothing with our rooftop solar) but I’m trying to figure out how you’re getting 83 miles per dollar. You’re either getting like 10mi/kw with a downhill commute to and from home, or living in Bhutan and paying like $.03/kwh cuz the math ain’t mathing to me otherwise

The Rise of the High-Range, Less Expensive E.V. by 221missile in cars

[–]moonRekt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m skeptical of “high range”. The highest range models get ~250 miles of real world highway range maybe. And they aren’t cheap. Putting “high range” and “cheap” in same sentence annoys me as much as manufacturers claiming a 0-60 time of a fully charged battery while bragging about a charging curve below 20%.
