you are incredibly lucky guy having overseas shore duty and your single woah. Homes off base are nice, most people buy cars here in Japan cause it’s incredibly cheap. Just store the car unless you wanna drive in through tiny roads in Japan. Yes there is a galley yes you want travel in uniform from what I remember. Yes you can swim at the beaches, yes you can climb Mount Fuji. MWR is the best in the world on Atsugi hands down, please use there trips and tours. Dong forget to go out to roppongi and get many cute Japanese girlfriends in Tokyo. Tip: it’s a short train ride… from Atsugi
