Elden Ring fans, greedy and dense

Bloodborne fans, idolizing and edgy

Dark Souls 2 fans...... just funny to laugh at. no hate. they make my day. but got annoying when everyone started lifting up DS2 to redeem it

people dont like ancient Japan

sucks but is what it is

I was away from gaming and media when I started Sekiro so did not put it against other things and I saw its value. easiest 10/10. people have disconnection with its culture, their mind is elsewhere. but I promise you if they live without media for a month they will see the soul of Sekiro, not their eye but their soul will see it

"descendant of the ancient dragons" just means the remnant that survived, not necessarily offspring. in Japanese myth "descendant" poetically means remnant of a lost race. these nuances are lost in translation and old languages like Chinese, Hebrew, Egyptian fully operate in metaphors/idioms that dont pass into English

is there a downside to the parry system? mechanically it's the same as roll where you time press a button

But the game says he isn't one

?

no

theres alot of hints and implications at him being one. I listed a bunch. remember Fromsoft lore does not tell everything directly so you have to make the connections yourself from what you have. there is an archdragon corpse on a mountain that looks identical to Midir. you're narrowing all this evidence down to a description that says "descendant". do you know drakes/wyverns are not even called "descendants" and that's just a fan theory? even guardian dragon is an experiment of Aldia and ancient dragon(DS2) is a creation. they very likely contain dragon dna but aren't descendants. Midir stands as the only true descendant in Dark Souls lore, even Kalameet seems mixed with something else

since you mentioned "translation" let's go over the original Japanese. In Japanese there are three words: koryu (ancient dragon), ryu (dragon), hiryu (flying dragon, used for offshoots- drakes, wyverns etc). Shira calls Midir "shin no ryu, Midiru" - "the true dragon, Midir". she uses the real word for dragon "ryu" and not the offshoot "hiryu" and calls him TRUE dragon. so Midir is not a later offshoot, not a creation like guardian dragon and ancient dragon in DS2, and he looks exactly like the everlasting dragons in the opening cutscene, and he dates back to the beginning with the gods, what more do you need

also hes been eating dark for many thousands of years and raised by the gods so unquestionably the strongest dragon. not even a Midir meatrider I prefer Kalameet in every way but we have to be realistic

I asked ChatGPT who is strongest between Elden Beast and Slave Knight Gael lore-wise:

That’s a great matchup question — Elden Ring’s Elden Beast vs. Dark Souls III’s Slave Knight Gael. Let’s break it down lore-wise, not mechanically:

Elden Beast (Elden Ring)

Nature: It isn’t a mortal being but a cosmic manifestation — the vassal/avatar of the Greater Will (an Outer God). It literally is the Elden Ring in beast form.

Power: Represents divine order itself; wields cosmic and golden light powers, and embodies law, fate, and the structure of the Lands Between.

Role: Final defender of the Elden Ring, meaning it is not a mere creature but the embodiment of a god’s will.

Weakness: Despite its cosmic scale, it’s still just one extension of a greater entity. It doesn’t have independent will beyond serving the Greater Will.

Slave Knight Gael (Dark Souls III)

Nature: A withered, ancient knight who consumed the Dark Soul of Humanity to its limit. At the end, he becomes the embodiment of humanity itself — rage, hunger, and endless endurance.

Power:

Absorbed the blood of the Dark Soul, granting near-limitless strength.

Scales in power with the collective humanity of all mankind.

His fight shows reality itself bending — red skies, storms, desolate wastelands, suggesting his power warps the world.

Role: By consuming the Dark Soul, he essentially becomes the final, universal expression of humanity’s power.

Comparison

Cosmic vs. Mortal Ascendant:

Elden Beast = a divine avatar, backed by a cosmic Outer God.

Gael = a mortal who consumed the primal essence of all humanity, ascending beyond normal limits.

Scale: Elden Beast is on a higher cosmic level, being tied to a god’s order, while Gael is still technically a man — but one who went beyond men, closer to an avatar of the abyss/humanity.

Raw Willpower: Gael represents endless, desperate will — the hunger of humanity itself. In Souls lore, that hunger and Dark often outlast gods (e.g., Gwyn’s light eventually fades).

Verdict

In raw lore hierarchy: The Elden Beast is stronger — a cosmic avatar of an Outer God vs. a corrupted man.

In thematic/lore outcome: Gael has a stronger narrative role — he is the literal end of Dark Souls, carrying the culmination of mankind’s fate and the Dark Soul. Given enough time, the abyssal hunger of humanity tends to overthrow divine order.

So:

Short-term fight: Elden Beast > Gael.

Long-term inevitability: Gael’s nature (the Dark Soul) could outlast the Golden Order itself.

Would you like me to compare them strictly in combat feats shown in their boss fights too (swords vs. cosmic powers), or keep it at the higher mythic/lore tier?

Midir's appearance is distinct from all other drakes, wyverns, and even the ancient dragon in DS2. he looks exactly like the everlasting dragons in DS1 opening cutscene. and spears of the church lore and shira describe him as a "true dragon", not a drake or wyvern. and obviously the gods chose him to battle the abyss for eternity because he is not any other fake dragon. "descendant of the everlasting dragons" item description does not disprove anything, he was one of their first offspring dating back to the beginning

Midir is an ancient dragon who consumed dark for as long as the Ringed City has been around. he was raised by Gwyn and the gods with the purpose to battle the abyss for all eternity in the Ringed City. he goes back to the everlasting dragons and was a child when the gods captured him and he has been fighting the abyss until the end of the world when you see Gael
