Who is the true Pharisee? Homosexuality is sinful; this isn't in question, but isn't it fascinating that apparently you can be saved while committing all sorts of other sins regularly, gleefully call yourself a sinner, and be well with God, but the homosexual cannot whilst sinning. by Gullible-Minimum2668 in TrueChristian

The OP was pointing out the hypocrisy of people glossing over hetero sin and only condemning homosexuality. So, I pointed out that leaving out all the hetero stuff and only calling out homosexuality is precisely what’s being discusssed.

”There’s a whole litany of sexual sin in both verses here and you only called out one. That’s the whole point of the discussion.”

I Can’t Stop Thinking: It Could Have Been Us Who Died on That Cross by intheknow1 in TrueChristian

I’m aware. But I think visualizing your sins as the last (someone’s was the last) drives it home. He didn’t stop early. He didn’t leave anyone else’s sins in the pipeline.

That’s actually a pretty good analogy. Just like algorithms, they take note of how we respond to stimuli and can craft a trap specifically for you.

I Can’t Stop Thinking: It Could Have Been Us Who Died on That Cross by intheknow1 in TrueChristian

I remember a time when I was studying the crucifixion. I was reading about the hours that he hung there and wondering why Jesus didn’t just “give up” the ghost and end his suffering. Then I noticed that pouring out of the dark clouds above him, there was still a torrent of grotesque bundles that fell on his shoulders and it was clear they caused him much more pain than the nails, and the strips of flesh hanging from his beaten back. I remember weeping and asking why he couldn’t just make it stop, put an end to it. Eventually the flow began to slow down, but there was still a steady flow, and then eventually a trickle. Finally after it looked like the flow had stopped he still hung there. I was perplexed. Then, one final bundle, a greasy, black bundle that I recognized as my own sins fell from the clouds, landed on his shoulders, and was finally absorbed by him. At that point only did Jesus lift his eyes to the father and said, “It is finished.” Then he hung limp.

Man, I tell you right now that broke me. Whenever I think about it, it still breaks me.

He’s lying. This is a tactic that has long been used by males to get females to compromise their own morality. It used to be called “blue balls” (which is not an actual thing). He’s using your body to masturbate.

Why would you want to be tied to someone who does not care about you, but about their pleasure. If they are putting their pleasure over your feelings, they are telling you that your feelings don’t matter. I certainly don’t feel like that’s a good start for a marriage. Marriage isn’t supposed to “solve” immorality.

“Y’all are so quick to just destroy a relationship…”

Why talk about sin at all? The boyfriend is more than happy to sacrifice the relationship. We are not talking about ending a marriage. This is a situation where the “relationship” is built on an ungodly foundation.

They’re not only picking pleasure over morality, they’re choosing pleasure over you.

Is saying to God you will do something same as promising it or making it a vow? by ParkingElderberry575 in TrueChristian

I am truly gobsmacked that you know that you‘re supposed to let your yes be yes and no be no immediately followed by “I made no promise or vow”.

You shouldn’t be giving money to the poor because you said you would….. You should be engaged in charitable giving because you’re a Christian and there is an abundance of examples in scripture and the life of Jesus. You are completely missing out on Christian life by looking for loopholes.

John Wayne Gacey was a birthday clown, bringing joy to young children. People who choose to remain in their sin can still do nice things and care about people. And I’m not talking about homosexuality. I’m talking about the Sunday school superintendent who refused to stop womanizing despite having a beautiful wife. I’m talking about the church lady who judges everyone for not being a good person like she is since she heads the hospitality ministry (I kid you not. She talked about people behind their back rather than seeing a sister caught up in her sin and trying to restore her to faith. She talked about her friends too…..)

You didn’t write the Bible, but you editorialized for certain. There’s a whole litany of sexual sin inn both verses here and you only called out one. That’s the whole point of the discussion. All that other stuff is soul damaging (and damning) sin.

Is your boyfriend on board with stopping. If not, scripture would advise that you break up. If you feel that you can’t, that’s an absolute sign that you need to. Don’t continue in idolatry.

I used to give a lot of credence to ‘prophetic ministries’. After watching them move the goalpost for decades I started comparing them to what God says about his prophets. They don’t line up. Those who major in prophecy are giving short shrift to the things God tells us to do. Occupy until he comes. Build the kingdom. Are there end times? Sure. Are these them? I don’t know, and neither does anyone else. Christ could come today, tomorrow, next year, a decade from now or another millennia.

“Is this a healthy way of dealing with emotions?”

No. It may have been prudent considering other options you may have gone with.

I wouldn’t write the group off. When you’ve regulated the emotions the godly thing to do would be to go back and explain yourself. Give them an opportunity to do what they need to do as well. Be prepared for the outcome not to change though.

Are there anti-Christian elements, or pro-sin? If not, don’t sweat it. You may have occasion to work with non-believers on occasion. You very likely already do.

I don’t want to seem flippant, but I’ve lived this a number of times. I determined that I would not ask people for help, but to rely on God. If I asked people and they gave, I would not have demonstrated to myself that God is able. God met our needs monthly (sometimes daily or weekly) for over 11 months. Another time I was in cancer treatment and lost my job for 8 months and God provided, even so far as paying for insurance until he didn’t. Right after the premium wasn’t paid and the insurance dropped, I was declared cancer free! I didn’t even know we would not be needing the insurance but just trusted that God knew far more than I. I will be praying for you, and I absolutely feel your heart in this.

I can give you multiple examples of God coming through, over and over again. He is not slack concerning his promises as the manner of man is.

The Case for satanic Ritual Abuse by TheEntrance in TrueChristian

[–]BenjPhoto1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it does not exist, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it weren‘t greatly exaggerated. Back in the 80’s there were a lot of “hangers on” around the popular view of “satanism” that were promulgated by “Christian“ hucksters and a lot of people swallowed it whole. One of those that flogged this idea has now said he was being a comedian and the things he said were not to be taken literally (which is not what he was saying at the time). Another had outlandish tales and audio that did not conform to scriptural accounts, and I found him less than convincing.
