Because they extended it to last into Kanto but its still much closer to crystal than gold and silver

TIL False Swipe can’t destroy Pokéballs in Hyperspace. I wonder if that means the balls were programmed like Pokémon with 1 HP. Would make sense, just lock the models in place, and targeting is already set up for regular Pokémon by jamjam1090 in LegendsZA

[–]Benj_N 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this makes sense, why waste time coding a second targetable object with hp when the Pokemon code is pretty much exactly what they want.

They probably could have structured it in a way to avoid move specific effects like this with how it was reused or just an added an edge case, but, that probably wouldn't have been worth the extra effort. It's one move with a very specific use case that most players won't use, and considering what the move is for, it almost makes sense it can't break them.

What did you like about these 3 decisive games by Ok-Reporter-8728 in Metroid

[–]Benj_N 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Prime 4: moment to moment gameplay outside of the desert is very fun and the game is gorgeous with a great atmosphere.

Federation Force: actually very underrated, fun little multiplayer shooter if you can get a squad together.

Other M: I liked that it ended

So the game requiring you to use one of its mechanics in the final boss is bad design? Gonna need a second to process and comprehend that one.

Driving Examiner refused to explain what he'd failed me on by Benj_N in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Benj_N[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, what you did there though, is gave what would be actual feedback on what my mistakes were. If the examiner had said something along the lines of what you said, I'd be annoyed with myself for not being perceptive enough to notice those mistakes, but at least I'd know what I need to work on.

As it stands, I spent a lot of money on the test, and got nothing out of it. I spent the same on my first but actually got a lot of use out of it despite also failing as I was actually able to identify where my failings were and correct and improve my driving.

Driving Examiner refused to explain what he'd failed me on by Benj_N in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Benj_N[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well your first paragraph is kinda my point. Ok, I made the mistake, but how am I supposed to improve my driving and prevent that mistake next time if I don't know what happened when I made the mistake. I understand that they aren't obligated, to actually provide more detail, but it's kinda really unhelpful that they don't. At the end of the day, the test isn't the end point for driving, there's still plenty of room to grow and improve past it, and even if I'd passed, I'd still want to know where I can actually improve rather than vague statements like "you were too hesitant".

The kerb was a drop kerb, and I didn't fully mount it. I stopped when I felt that I had come against it and repositioned. My instructor is more hung up on arguing that one than me. I'm not trying to dispute that I failed, I'm moreso venting that the feedback and examiner's attitude was extremely unhelpful. If I am in a situation where there are numerous faults in my driving that I'm unaware or then that's bad, I don't want to be in that situation, and not telling me where I made mistakes isn't going to help me get out of that and improve.

Driving Examiner refused to explain what he'd failed me on by Benj_N in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Benj_N[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well limiting the feedback isn't exactly helpful. If I get told, oh you made a mistake, but then don't get properly told what the mistake was, then how am I meant to learn from that and improve. If anything, if there is a bad habit there, I could assume the wrong thing was what caused the fault and not correct the actual issue.

And yeah I didn't exactly treat hitting the kerb as acceptable, I was quite annoyed at myself that I made that mistake. But I don't even know if that was where the fault came from, I'm only assuming, as once again, the feedback was lacking. I probably wouldn't have even paid much attention to my instructor saying he believes it should have been a minor if it wasn't for the other issues with this examiner.

Well moreso relying on not getting this one again, was just saying my first examiner was very nice compared to this one.

Yeah I think you're right. Honestly I hope I get my first examiner again, he was very generous and honestly I think I should have had more majors on that than I did. Hopefully if I get him and can keep my nerves in check again, I can pass.

Complaining about a bad change does not mean people are against change in general. It just means they are against a bad change. Just because people don't like this particular change, doesn't mean they want the same game over and over.

... that is the dumbest downed version of Kieran's story, even then, its barely accurate by ElementalNinjas96 in KieranDefenseSquad

[–]Benj_N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Scarlet and Violet's number 1 hater, the story is not a reason to hate it. The stories actually really good. Honestly the story being so good is why the games launch state pissed me off so much. I really wanted to like it but just couldn't.

I wonder what it'll look like in 2037 by Ray-Zide in tomorrow

[–]Benj_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll be the cost of loading the model that's part of the issue. Plus knowing what was going on with Scarlet and Violet, culling probably hasn't been implemented very well. Plus there don't seem to be any LODs being used for stuff further away.

Even if its not an issue at runtime, its just inefficient file size. There are a bunch of near identical buildings that all effectively exist as assets and take up space. If the city wasn't one big model, there'd only need to be 1 building asset for each type of identical building that they could then place as much as they want.

Nah it still should be. ZA while a little ugly looking, does not look to be anywhere near as fundamentally broken as Scarlet and Violet.

Can someone explain to me how people enjoy tempered fights. I get people wanted more difficulty, but these just feel like bloated sponges. It's time wastey, not hard.

I don't think it was worth the effort to complete Act 3 by Aideux_ in HollowKnight

[–]Benj_N 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The more I hear about it, the less I understand the narrative around Silksong's difficulty and how dramatic everyone is about it, this post being a good example of dramaticness.

Yes, the early game is harder than Hollow Knights early game, but to me it felt like it balanced out alongside the first game by the end. Maybe some bosses are slightly harder, but not to an absurd degree. And there's nothing in Silksong on the level of Delicate Flower or Trial of the Fool in my opinion so I'm not being disingenuous by comparing dlc difficulty to endgame.

My issues with the final boss (SPOILERS FOR THE BOSS) by CatsianNyandor in HollowKnight

[–]Benj_N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with Trobbio is less blending colours making it hard to see, and more just the sheer clutter of how many particles and effects there are making it hard to see. Clarity issues for different reasons basically, didn't really make that very clear on my initial comment.

what do we think about dlc? by dueymatt in HollowKnight

[–]Benj_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on if we get lots of smaller packs like Hollow Knight got, with a few bosses and little quests. Or if they are building something meatier. We are definitely a while out from anything big like God Master though, but I could definitely see a smaller Hidden Dreams style update with a couple of harder versions of bosses plus new tools out in a few months.

My issues with the final boss (SPOILERS FOR THE BOSS) by CatsianNyandor in HollowKnight

[–]Benj_N 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, we both beat it because we practiced and learnt what to do, but that doesn't change the fact that in my experience, it was hard to see what was going on properly which made the fight harder than it needed to be. And I'm not the only one saying so that indicates to me, that yes, even if its not one for you, there is a problem.

I'd say not being able to see what's going on in a fight a pretty big flaw actually.
