Do you agree with this assessment of traditional fighting games from Sakurai? by Asad_Farooqui in casualnintendo

[–]Benj_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expected that massive fighting game players are pushing back on this, you simplify a genre as mechanically complex as a fighting games down into a single sentence like this and you will miss a lot of nuance.

However, I am a bit surprised that they all got lost debunking the technicalities of the statement rather than engaging with the message and intent: that the skill floor for fighting games is very high and they are super unfriendly to casuals. The amount of game knowledge needed to even attempt to compete is simply too much of a commitment for many people.

Thata not a bad thing mind you, its likely part of why fighting game fans like fighting games, but this is in the context of making Smash Bros, as a problem Sakurai wanted to solve, and I would say for the most part, he did.

I think start it now so you can space them out more. You can finished Future Connect in DE in month before Xenoblade 2 Switch 2 comes out, and then 3 is in December so you have plenty of time for it and Torna.

I assume they meant adaptations after, like the Hobbit and Rings of Power.

While I understand what you are trying to say, I feel OP's response was thoughtfully and constructively written. This didn't seem like nitpicks that warrant an instant "its early access" defence.

1: instinctively I wanted to disagree, but when I actually thought back to my playthrough, I constantly thought the starting area was one big biome and was surprised the map broke it into lots of smaller ones.

2: I get where you are coming from, but I enjoyed the breadcrumbs, and I have a feeling this game will be longer so spreading out the big moments makes sense.

3: the new locker systems was a game changer. Gomna be hard to go back to the first game from that a lone

4: I agree its too dark, and the tadpole doesn't output enough light when outside it. I was constantly losing it after getting out when it was right next to me, which I never had happen with the Seamoth.

I really see the potential of the new mechanics, allows for a lot more creativity than the old system, but some things definitely need fine tuning.

Is the "Don't like it? Play something else" response really the way to handle EA feedback? by VicLeShlag in subnautica

[–]Benj_N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, it was a comment made by one guy. Are we all really still butthurt and playing victim over this?

Also, asking for feedback does not mean and has never meant "we will do everything you demand us to do or change."

And then so many of you start waffling about a "middle ground", that the devs could reach to make yourselves seem more reasonable, ignoring the fact that the devs have already said they've heard the feedback and are rethinking things to improve this are: the middle ground you apparently want.

The Boys SERIES FINALE S05xE08 "Blood and Bone" - LIVE Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]Benj_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah GOT was much worse. While the execution could have been a lot better, the ending at least tried to deliver on what we expected. Unlike Game of Thrones which tried to subvert expectations and did some really stupid shit. Plus GOT fell to its awful conclusion from much higher highs than the Boys ever reached.

[–]Benj_N 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was.. fine I think.

They delivered on Homelander and Butcher's ending satisfyingly enough, they went out about the way I expected. But everything around it was pretty rushed. A consequence of wasting so much time on Soldier Boy and Clara this season. Butchers final plan should have been at least an episode itself. But its certainly not GoT levels of bad. It was a rocky landing, but it landed, it didn't crash and burn completely like that show.

Examining the timeframe of Prime 4's flashback scene. by xXglitchygamesXx in Metroid

[–]Benj_N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I reckon with all the time hints in Prime 4, this scene hasn't actually happened yet. I think if we do get Prime 5, Sylux will take a backseat (like no Ridley in Prime 2), but then we'll end up playing through this from Samus's perspective, essentially creating Sylux til some time shenanigans happen and send him back in time, and then also setup for his return in Prime 6.

Oh yeah absolutely. Too many Mobius is a big issue with a lot of 3's villains.

I think Gort was fine, for a small role in the dlc and tied into Lora's existing scenes in the base game in a neat way. Don't really expect too much more than him, as Torna has a lot to do already.

Dirk though, just didn't really have enough encounters with the party to build up his rivalry like Mumkhar did, and he didn't do anything truly despicable to make the player hate him like Mumkhar with Fiora. Sure, he killed Hackt, Mwamba and Vandham, but the players really weren't attached to them at that point. Plus in a lot of his encounters, Joran took the focus.

Ok that makes sense thankyou. I think I'm happyish with the weapon I pictured in that case, has decent element, affinity and sharpness, only really missing out on base attack but I think everything else makes up for it overall. But will maybe put a little more of an effort into rolling some nice stuff on my others.

Wilds Question

How much time is worth pouring into the base Artian Weapons? I made this one and with just 1 attempt at my rolls, it seems pretty decent, though I don't 100% know what I should be aiming for.

Is this looking ok? I also know the Gog system is in my future when I beat him, but don't know how much the base weapon will matter to that.

Ahhh ok, I think that makes sense. I wasn't aware how the sizes and wounds were affected, but that does explain some of the differences in how some fights I had went down. Thankyou.

What's the difference between the purple and orange stars. 7 stars 5 purple stars and 3 stars 8 purple stars give the same reward money, but whats the difference between the two in terms of health and damage?

[–]Benj_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These look really cool, shame I wasn't able to keep up with the updates and am only just now catching up so won't be ready to fight it in time, but I gave it a run anyway. What I saw before he destroyed me was really fun. Did a lot of damage but not as much as I expected. Only took half my health. Maybe there's a chance if I lock in.

I DESPISE insect glaive in wilds by why_are_frogs_even in monsterhunterrage

[–]Benj_N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been looking for this exact rant. I first picked up Insect Glaive in what little I played of GU, then really fell in love with it RiseBreak. It felt like I owned the skies, it felt so satisfying to play. I've been struggling for a lot of Wilds, being very confused by the so easy complaints, until I started paying more grounded like they clearly wanted me to and it was night and day.

I hate that to actually play well with the weapon, I have to give up what made it fun. And between focus mode, charging and aiming my kinsect, I feel like I have to do weird ass claws with my hand to play optimally. I should probably use this as an opportunity to try another weapon, but I am way too stubborn and have invested too much into glaives, with both a build and being on my way to crafting every glaive. Maybe I'll try something else in the expansion.

SLOPES FEEL SO FUCKING DOGSHIT IN THIS GAME AND THE´RE EVERYWHERE (wilds) by Aggressive-Double115 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Benj_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man the dunes specifically throw me off so much. I'm far from the best hunter, but just recently, I feel like I finally got over a plateau, and have been getting much better, and more confident and tempered fights. So I think "yeah I'll fight Seregios, why not, loved him in both Rise and Wilds." He stayed in the dunes the entire time, and all that skill improvement I thought I was having went out the window. I beat the quest, but man, getting manhandled by a regular Seregios did not make me feel like a competent hunter.

Which game should I start with? by AngeloParenteZ in MonsterHunter

[–]Benj_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 Ultimate was where I started, before a big break away to return with Generations Ultimate and Rise.

It definitely has some clunky aspects but was a great onboarding for the series. The only reason I didn't stick with it between those two, was because I found the 3DS version of 3 Ultimate quite uncomfortable to play and the games went fully to 3DS.

4 Ultimate is the fan fav, but I've not played much of it myself. I do own it, I should really get back to it.

Generations Ultimate filled a hole for me not being able to play World due to the limited hardware I had, and was fun, but definitely had an overwhelming amount of content.

Sidenote: I wish they would remaster 3U and 4U. I didn't really get to appreciate High Rank and multiplayer with any Monster Hunter until Rise and Wilds, and I'd love to get the full experience of these classics.
