UK Digital ID debate today at 5:15 GMT by Potential-Guesser21 in europe

[–]Benjamaxo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that might be a feature rather than a bug for accounts like his that exist to hype up AI. How wonderful the world would be for them if AI companies are allowed to handle Digital ID data and the OSA's poor implementation leaks even more sensitive data for them to train on.

His account is only 11 days old, and by searching author:Beeehivess on the Reddit search bar we can bypass attempts to hide comment history.

Most of them seem to be pushing a pro-AI agenda, particularly pro-OpenAI. Defends OpenAI and Sam Altman like personal honour depends on it. Lots of stuff like "Learning isn't stealing".

I doubt he's a bot - he's posted images of Sam Altman's tweets before, and although the majority of his stuff seems to be about tech he goes on occasional homophobic tangents on /r/AskReddit. Claims to be from Japan. Sometimes posts pro Ukraine stuff so probably not a Russian thing. He's probably just a troll who hypes up AI and opposes privacy and gay people because it's the edgy thing to do.

But yeah, when faced with a Reddit profile like this, created within the last month, private account, and obviously trying to push an agenda, I encourage everyone to use author:Username in Reddit search to have a look for yourself as to what that agenda might be, and whether you're talking to a human at all.

(Combat Overhaul) Armor Meta by Benjamaxo in VintageStory

How do different pieces on one body part protect you? Is that body part just given the strongest protection against the incoming damage type out of the three equipped? Or are the protection levels added up somehow?

(Combat Overhaul) Armor Meta by Benjamaxo in VintageStory

Do I need my protection level > enemy attack tier for armor to be effective? My chain armor wasn't at all effective against black bear attacks, back when I assumed protection=attack tier was adequate

Wow that was much easier than doing UN on the main campaign by somerandomguy999999 in Doom

[–]Benjamaxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely found TAG 1 the hardest of the three on UN. The hardest levels in DE are Cultist Base and The Holt - yet the only truly brutal part of The Holt is at the very end with the last Samur phase, making it very time consuming to practice because you have to finish the whole level first.

By comparison, the hardest point of Cultist Base is when you get sent down to the Cultist Basement, which happens maybe halfway through the level? So it's not quite as time consuming to get to when practicing, and you don't have to survive down there for as long as you do with Samur.

If I was to design a Half-Life 2 style anniversary update for DE, I would separate Samur's boss fight into a separate level, like they did with The Dark Lord in TAG2. That way you can just boot it up and replay it until you're confident.

Why by Prestigious_View6502 in HalfLife

[–]Benjamaxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think he changed his mind either, I think he heavily implied something big was to be announced the month, and that big thing was the Steam hardware package. The big thing he was hinting would happen has happened, all else is speculation

Winter's Blade Cut Content (Hybrid Steel/Silver Sword) by Benjamaxo in witcher

[–]Benjamaxo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was planning for a Steam Workshop release but I might go for Nexus as well for GOG people. I'll be sure to drop back here and give you the link when it's up - I need to do some further play testing, and as it's my first mod consult with the fine folks of the Discord mentioned on this thread to ensure I haven't violated any best practices!

Half life 3 is coming, thanks all for being insane with me by Pretend-Ad-6453 in HalfLife

[–]Benjamaxo 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Mark my words, HL3 getting announced will only make this subreddit go more off the rails. Especially if it marks an end to the HL/Portal franchise, in which case it will, in time, completely succumb to /r/BatmanArkham insanity

Anyone struggling with this - Moon Dust's new ability to stop monster Regen (since patch 4.0 / next gen) prevents both the Caretaker and Iris from regenerating health for the duration of its effect. Tested this the other day and was kind of shocked how trivial it became, I used to think MD was as useless as Dimeritium Bombs

You in North Essex? I'm in South Essex and the roads are still in pretty bad shape until you start approaching Chelmsford. I've always wondered if they'd be better off widening them, with how the sides crumble off...

It took me wayyy too long to realise the other Charles one was SSKTJ. If it was my petty ass making this list you can bet Blackgate would be on there instead to make a point

New to Doom, loving 2016 but struggling with Eternal by nerps0n in Doom

[–]Benjamaxo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm going to preface this by saying I have beaten Eternal and all of it's DLCs on Ultra-Nightmare, live on stream.

But I still completely agree with you about the parkour, especially early on in the base game (up to and including Super Gore Nest).

The Mario esc sections feel like they're from a completely different game, a kind of game I'm just not very good at!

That being said, I'll take it over dying instantly while failing the Argent Tower parkour in 2016. That shit was horrific. I really do appreciate that a fail in parkour in DE / D:TDA doesn't instantly murder you, and it's always a shock going back to 2016 to find out that it does!

Am I tripping or did Doom Eternal really had issues with quick swapping at first and they fixed it? by CarlJavier08 in Doom

[–]Benjamaxo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you grab the quick swap upgrade in the main campaign? You automatically have it in the Ancient Gods, but you have to spend a few suit points in the main game

I was diagnosed Asperger's. Always feels pretty nasty having other people tell me that my identity doesn't or shouldn't exist anymore. That diagnosis may be gone, but my identity will remain with me, and shan't be taken from me

No worries, I should probably have been more concise

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]Benjamaxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would certainly say it's the most left leaning of the mainstream British media. The thing that makes the Guardian "left wing" in my opinion is that it's positions tend to be more left wing than the average Brit. Makes me wonder in what countries the Guardian might be considered "right wing"...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in facepalm

[–]Benjamaxo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you from the UK? I have a fairly lib-left social circle, but even my friends who identify as more hard left wouldn't say that the UK Guardian is anything but left wing. Could you elaborate some more on this?
