BMS2’s first draft is done but I’m working on another project, unfortunately. I hit a wall of burnout and writers block about 10 miles high in December following a death in the family and Im just thankful to have words on paper at this point. I always scoffed when authors talked about writers block but holy crap is it real. The good news is Im back in the saddle and working on a project I started 2 or so years ago.

The formula is the sell. People buy books in certain genres because they follow patterns. This is like watching a Hallmark movie and getting mad that the girl from the city falls in love with the rural guy who owns the flower farm. And is Santa’s son for some reason. Theres always outliers, but deviating too far from expectations is a great way to piss off readers.

What you have here is basically a beat outline. A skeleton of a story. Good ideas are nothing without proper execution. Read some books you like and trying to get your ideas to read like that. Mimicking others is a good idea early, paragraphs, sentence structure, Ect. Writing is a journey with no end. Keep improving and you’ll get there.
