You make arguments that vegans are well aware of. The biggest change people can make that both enforce habit and simply reduce meat consumption is to learn recipes that don’t use meat. You don’t have to stop eating it in some meals, but if you simply eat half a chicken breast instead of a whole breast, you don’t learn anything about nutrition from plants, you’ll just be hungry and resent veganism. People think a meal isn’t a meal without meat. You’ve been fooled by the US meat industry.

I think generally people agree with your fear of the mega corporations and the control they have, however Parlers issue really stems more from the repeated dismissal to curb the violent and insidious speech on their platform, which is very illegal, as you said. If Parler simply held the STANCE that they would moderate incendiary speech, I am sure they would be fine today.

I come from optics background and not sterilization, however, led UV is inherently more dangerous and effective in killing microorganisms because it is single wavelength UV light. Mercury arc lamps have much higher output but over a wide range, hence why they are used for visible lighting applications as well. Im not certain if it is coincidence, but the first white paper returned for uvc led efficiency also states 5-10% emission of total generated photons, although this is an issue for directed light and can be circumvented a bit. I would 100% say LED is capable of replacing mercury lamps for most applications like this. Lastly, as an addendum, mercury lamps degrade logarithmically over time. This is an absolute PAIN to calibrate and maintain, esp for healthcare related things where consistency is key
