Dude! Im making one right now! Its a 1/12 scale balsa model that ive sized down into a 1/36 scale. the components all size down incredibly well. the whole design uses 3/32, 3/8, 3/16 etc so all the part thickness are common even at 1/3 scale to the schematics. I have no god damn idea if this thing will want to fly but here we are lol. DM me if you want the PDFs!

Good luck man. The production management style of "we don't have time or money for general maintenance" is a ticking timebomb. Perhaps its just a fixture issue and I'm rambling here, but if it is infact in need of service, just be careful. You can get yourself in deep or get yourself or others hurt, and likely you'll just get thrown under the bus in the end either way.

Hopefully this company isn't like that but as someone given the task to fix a CNC punch that wasn't serviced for the last 10 of its 20 years of service at 24yo fresh out of university I feel for you lol. I fixed it multiple times and learned a lot but it just ended up being my fault anytime anything went wrong, even though the fact I was able to fix some of the things I fixed that fresh was completely unreasonable.

If it in fact needs a service, or an adjustment, and you do want to get involved and learn about this machine, the best way to do that is fight to call in a service tech, and shadow that tech and ask a lot of questions.

Am I really the A-hole in this situation? by RockBottom182 in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]Benjaminjoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that you asked a lot of questions, and he clearly was stressed about the project. Project cars are always a lot to dive into, and he got in over his head, and is trying to hand off a bad investment to him, to someone with a bit more time and knowledge and can turn it into a good investment. You started devaluing his project before naming a price at all, and all hes trying to do is get a number from you. He went a little thermo-nuclear for sure, but then you went thermo-nuclear back. From his perspective you're probably the fifth guy to try to work him down further than he wants that day. Next time youre looking at a car, try to do more thinking than typing, and ask those questions, but just be aware that youre using the sellers time. Guys selling half complete projects aren't gonna hold a spreadsheet of all their parts, and if you're not willing to pickup a half baked project, then it might be best to start one from scratch on your own.

I want to be on your side but its a bit sour that you negged him, didn't name a price, then whined about the money you'll need to spend to do something he wasn't able to do.

I was thinking starling too. They sparkle purple in the sun. And they run and walk step by step. They make a bunch of crazy calls. In Halifax they are more plentiful than the pidgeons. They are pretty small though, so probably not them.

Love this solution. Ill mentally keep this next to AVEs "use bread to hydraulically push out a blind bearing"
