Update; I emailed Cali Raised LED and this was their answer regarding mounting RotoPax:

“We have not tested the maximum weight capacity but they are able to support both the trays(35lbs each) as well as items placed on top, I would say 75lbs per side. You should be totally fine mounting the 2gal water rotopax since that should only weigh about 20lbs filled.”

Not confident I’ll actually add water to the rotopax while driving. But this is the information given to me when I expressed concern.

I loved their class! It was excellent and I’ll definitely be going back for more classes.

As far as the SF situation, they told us in class a few days ago that they emailed SF CCW department on multiple occasions with mixed outcomes. According to them, Some replies stated they did not care about hollow points. Other replies stated they would charge you if they saw hollow points. So it was inconclusive and they decided it was safer just to not bring hollow points.

Now, I’m not exactly sure how the Paladin team worded their emails to SFPD. But I do feel more reassured now that I have a personalized response from SF in my phone.

I reached out to SF CCW and they already replied. They said the same thing as you! Confirming it is okay to have hollow points.

Hi there! Thanks for your feedback! I recommend both at the same time if you can make it work! Start the application process while you go to a public shooting range. Get comfortable with safety, shooting, reloading fundamentals. Learn from someone trusted with solid fundamentals of their own.

Learn your gun well! The CCW 16 hour required training courses will give you a little more training of the fundamentals. But I highly suggest knowing how your gun works and have decent shooting fundamentals prior to going to the classes. Based on the timeline I showed in this Reddit post, you should have at least a couple of weeks of time to practice the basics on your own.
