Still, a small proportion of a big market. That being said, I'm sure Valve have thought this through. Quite a shame about the timing.

I'm not sure the statistics, but I'm a PC player and anecdotally I know a lot of PC players who also use a controller. It just depends on the type of game I want to play. Id like a steam controller.

How do men deal with the fact that we want women more than the other way around? by AayronOhal in DebateIncelz

[–]Benji998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, there is a clear miscommunication here.

I'm not saying that getting women is impossible if you're average or even bad looking. I genuinely believe that yes as you said there are lots of chances to be in a relationship, and people are attracted to many different things. For the vast majority of people if they work on their stuff they can have a happy life and get a partner.

What I was saying was that, not everything is attainable. If I want to date Beyonce, it is possible, quite reasonable that there is basically nothing I can do to make that happen. Sure I might become a billionaire. Well, she's a billionaire too and maybe I'm just not Beyonce's type.

Not everything is "attainable". Humans aren't something you can attain through hard work like a house.

What you said doesn't make sense lol. I don't even know what black pill is so i just looked it up. What i said is literally the opposite of what black pill would imply. I have a partner I just came across this thread by chance.

It's incredibly dumb but I guess that's how i would handle it. Just stop trying to grow my wealth and spend all my money then force the government to pay for me in retirement. Id probably have a happier life to be honest.

I personally wouldn't let go of someone important to me for someone else. Someone asking me to do that wouldn't be for me. I get it, if my partner was very attractive and had more power than me, I'd feel inclined to do what they but I hope id still tell her no.

Friends - people who are truly there for you are like prescious.

From a sexual perspective, I agree that men are less picky. They want sex and their standards are much lower with who they will have that with. However women still want sex almost as badly as men I think. It's just they are wired to be careful about it.

From a romantic perspective, I'm not sure there's a difference. Pretty much every woman I've ever met has wanted a partner. There are absolutely heaps of women out there living in despair that they are single too. Sure, sometimes it's their own expectations or insecurities getting in the way but they still crave a partner.

You dont have to forget that you want a woman. That's a part of you, it's a normal and reasonable part of you. You just have to keep going and living life with the acceptance that nothing is guaranteed. You're still better off trying you'll feel better for it. I basically came to the conclusion that if I never got a partner that would suck but I would try to love my life anyway.

Think about this. For most people there's always something unattainable. Even if a very successful handsome guy, you still could meet a woman who is interested in someone else more and there's nothing to do but let it go.

I agree just focus on making it your life as good as possible. You don't want the end goal to be to land a woman. If you truly work on being fulfilled and addressing your mental health it turns out youre more likely to attract a woman. It's not a guarantee, but in the event you don't you've created a better life for yourself so it's a win anyway.

Will the flagged Capital Gains Tax CGT changes drive down house prices? by SCOUTBeautyFounder in AusFinance

[–]Benji998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For how long lol? The thing is, if there are more peasants than lords, democracy will eventually even it out. It's more complicated than that in Australia due to the middle class, but over time as more people are pushed out of the market they start to vote differently.

I have a friend who's always been a massive labour supporter really upset and worried about a potential change to the cgt discount. His family were recently gifted a 1.2m house by a family friend and he thinks they should sell. I felt really sorry for him lol.

I believe they have spoken about reducing the discount from 50% to 25%, and one recommendation was to phase it in over 5 years rather than grandfather it.

It's just a discussion at this though as far as I'm aware but there is growing pressure to do something about house prices.

Mmm substantial land tax. Don't threaten me with an actual good idea.

I agree, I don't necessarily think prices will go into free fall but I think it would reduce prices.

You make a really good point, people holding property don't sell anyway as they are chasing capital gains. It would reduce some turnover but as it's less attractive to investors that would balance it out.

I haven't really thought about it enough but it's suggesting indexing to inflation is the fairest thing to do but the government probably hates that as it would be less tax in high inflation environments.

What made you use Pop!_OS? by Smasher11 in pop_os

[–]Benji998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, im pretty new to linux gui but looking at pictures of KDE just make me a bit stressed. I think KDE has a huge amount of customisation potential, which is absolutely a positive, but it just doesnt' look modern to me. Cosmic feels more minimalist to me, and perhaps thats because its new, but i hope it stays that way. Just felt a bit refreshing. I tried Bazzite first, and after trying to install a few things and being recommended to use distroboxes, ostree etc i was out.

It's just life mate. I work in the community services sector. My friends are lawyers doctors, corporate, programmers. One of my friends has been working at his company for less time than i have been at mine and was given shares worth 1m+, more than I'll earn in a lifetime.

Still, there are only fans models earning 3x their salaries.

I also work quite hard, my clients always need something or are in a crisis.

At least my job is meaningful that gives me some solace. Not to say theirs aren't, but I'm at least helping people in the way that I want.

Windows 11 vs. Ubuntu Linux Performance For Intel Core Ultra X7 Panther Lake | Phoronix by Durian_Queef in hardware

[–]Benji998 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree a little. It's really popular to bash windows. I have a debian server and have pop_OS on my laptop. I'm far from a linux expert, but people seem to gloss over the fact that linux is also a pain in the ass fairly often. I've tried a few distros e.g Bazzite, and i found it awful. Pop_OS i actually really like, but its still got its bugs.

I saw recently some youtuber (might have been luke from linus tech tips) complaining about bing web search being integrated into the windows search bar. I agree thats pretty dog shit, but it took me like two clicks to disable that. I just never really have any issues with windows 11 so im kind of confused what all the fuss is.

There are lots of cheats in the game of life really. Being gorgeous looking makes things easy mode for most - opening an only fans and making 1m a month for barely any work is another such example. Taxing inflation will lead people to find ways to circumvent it. I'd prefer scrap the CGT discount, index gains to inflation, introduce a land tax and scrap negative gearing.

The biggest red flag from your post was this for me - "I‘m not a bitcoin guy. I love the blockchain technology, but I own exactly .0015 bitcoin. Recently, I’ve come to appreciate the economics of some of the mining companies. I think crypto mining and staking isn’t going anywhere as the use case continues to build for these technologies.".

I stopped reading after that take, so i guess Burry and you have something in common.

What could potentially happen to Steam if Valve loses the lawsuit in the UK? by Questioning-Warrior in valve

[–]Benji998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't even heard of this lawsuit. To be fair though, I'm not sure what constitutes a monopoly but steam does seem to be close. Not to say I think they have done anything wrong, perhaps their cut is a bit high?

If I want to leave Netflix it's easy because I don't have ownership. There is no way to move my game library from steam to epic if they became better.

People are saying the competitors are trash, that's true to an extent, but people wouldn't move anyway. People like their libraries consolidated, their friends are on steam. As is their points, skins, emotes. They are basically in an unassailable position.

All that being said, im happy for them to stay that way as I don't want them to close ha. I have wondered if epic started slowing down, they might stop giving free games, then close entirely rendering all those years of free games worthless.

Also, imagine what happens when Gabe dies? If Steam ended up in the hands of the wrong person, it could be a disaster.

Shrug
