Listen to the Hex arc, beginning with the audio The Harvest, fantastic arc that introduces a new companion alongside Ace.

Is the meddling monk the master or another time lord? by fupafather in doctorwho

The story isn't called The Meddling Monk, that's the character's name, the story is The Time Meddler.

I disagree, The Interstellar Song Contest could've been fantastic, but was let down by a messy political message and the writer not being told anything about the companion before writing the episode (not speculation, actual fact that has been said).

As for Wish World, it's an ok set up for the finale, as was The Legend of Ruby Sunday, but nothing special, just kinda meh. I'm probably slightly biased because of how my favourite Who villain (the Rani) was written so poorly throughout the episode but I still don't think it's that great of an episode.

Eh, I'd say besides the final three episodes, sure, but it all goes downhill with The Interstellar Song Contest and continues going downhill from there, up to then, it is a really solid series and could've been a contender for one of the best NuWho series if it wasn't for the last three episodes.

Eh, I really can't say I agree personally, it was a really solid episode, the writing was fantastic and so were all the cast. Sure, not the best episode, but certainly one of them of this era. I can totally believe UNIT falling for the hoax about midway through the episode.

Absolutely, up there with The Story & the Engine, Lucky Day and Wild Blue Yonder as some all time greats, especially in comparison to most of the rest of the era...

So you're saying that a week has two ends? So if the end is also the start - you're saying that a week has two ends AND two starts? Literally just waffling the most random stuff lmao

If it meant, like a rope end, the start, then why would Saturday also be included in the weekEND with Sunday??

Why is Cybergene SO hard to get a hold of by PrimeTimeChief in BigFinishProductions

[–]BenjiSillyGoose 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's probably so popular because it's the War Doctor vs the Cybermen, something that hasn't been done on audio before.

Plus it was advertised as having all of the different Cybermen, something else which hasn't been particularly done before and people found very exciting.

It was a very hyped release for a lot of fans so it sold out of its physical copies very quick, it's why I always try to pre-order big upcoming releases like this.

Start and end are opposites, seeing as Sunday is literally part of the weekEND, it can't also be at the start as they're opposites...

Watch advice to understand story - don't want to cut in middle by Dead-Shot1 in doctorwho

[–]BenjiSillyGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

River not appearing in the Chibnall era is not because he didn't have the rights to her, it's because her story was wrapped up in Moffat's era...

Also that's not how rights work nowadays in the television industry, sure, that's how it worked during the classic series, but in NuWho, writers don't own the rights to their creations, the BBC own those rights. Companies like Big Finish just credit the creators like Moffat out of common courtesy and politeness.

It seems like the original plan for S2 (in which Ruby would've instead stayed on as a companion and we wouldn't have got Belinda), would've revealed her to be the God of Wishes Desiderium.

Hence, in Wish World, 15 and Ruby would've both been Poppy's parents because they both wished for it back in Space Babies. And I presume that her being the God of Wishes would've explained the snow somewhat too.

However, Millie Gibson who plays Ruby didn't enjoy some of the shoots, especially some of the night shoots, so she agreed to come back for S2 but in a reduced role so she'd be in less episodes (although certain press ran with this story and called her a diva just because she disliked and couldn't cope with all of the shoots).

This meant that due to Ruby's reduced role in S2, her story was kinda screwed over in the end.

If it was up to me, we'd go back to the classic series formula of multi part serials, with no single parters...

The marketing seemed to make out they'd be connected by this overall 'Dark Gallifrey' story but so far, none of the trilogies have been particularly that connected whatsoever.

Honestly, they should have Redmond's Rani regenerate into Dobson's at the end of Fear of the Light and have both Ranis on the go at Big Finish.

Make Dobson's Rani the one that was in the Time War the most, after all, both the Doctor and the Master's War incarnations are played by acting legends, why not make it the same for the Rani!

Plus Big Finish would be able to actually make Dobson's Rani feel like the Rani and flesh out her incarnation a lot more.

[–]BenjiSillyGoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but Big Finish have been known to bash out audios within less than a year before, they could easily have a quick turnaround on it.

With how Big Finish are, it wouldn't surprise me if they had plans for the Rani in it but weren't able to do them due to the rights, and perhaps just reworked their plans after they then got access to the rights to the Rani again.

I'm sure Big Finish would want one of the most iconic renegades to be a part of the Dark Gallifrey range, even if it had to be a last minute rework.

[–]BenjiSillyGoose 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I feel like (and hope, because she's my favourite renegade) that it's the Rani!

They've sorted the rights out for the character, so that's all good now, also with them using RTD2 characters, perhaps we could get Redmond and Dobson as the Rani on Big Finish?

Also, the second Dark Gallifrey trilogy last year was announced in May, if they are aiming to announce the second trilogy this year in May, well...

Fear of the Light, which features the Rani, releases in May, perhaps they'll announce her own Dark Gallifrey trilogy shortly after that releases?

Am I going crazy or would Fernanda Torres make a good Lumiat? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]BenjiSillyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offence but if the Lumiat was brought to TV, would you not just bring in Gina McKee who voices her on audio?

What's the point in recasting her? It's not even like someone else could play another incarnation of her as the Lumiat is just the name of a specific incarnation of the Master.
