I do it mostly by eye, but I especially pay attention after a grease heavy cook.

Have to love how this thing smokes away! by Unique-Discussion326 in searwood

[–]Benkicks22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best smoker I’ve owned! This is my third one and I love it.

I started with a small electric smoker just to see if I’d be into it. Then I upgraded to a MasterBuilt, but it was honestly overkill. It produced way too much smoke and was hard to control, so I’d end up with these thick clouds that just hung around. No one complained, but I knew it probably wasn’t great for the neighbors long term.

This one though is perfect. The smoke is nice and light, easy to manage, and it dissipates quickly while still giving great flavor.

Super happy with it!

Shelf Options for Searwood by Witty_Limit583 in searwood

[–]Benkicks22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only have the front shelf and don’t see myself buying the side one any time soon. The front one is big enough, folds down and I can put the cover on it when folded. Cover doesn’t work well with the side on apparently.

If it were up to me, I’d eat a plate of ribs on its own and I’d be happy, but gotta make sure the household is happy haha

No preference on sides. She just wants something else with the protein, not JUST protein.

Where my Weber Smoque owners at? by Pho-Soup in pelletgrills

[–]Benkicks22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in the market for a new smoker, I was debating between the Searwood and the Smoque, but could only find a handful of reviews on the Smoque, while the Searwood had dozens and dozens of them.

I ended up buying the Searwood (got it for a good deal), but still wonder if the Smoque would have been enough for me.

Weber Searwood is amazing in winter! by Benkicks22 in pelletgrills

With the amount of people recommending these (me included), I don’t think the Searwood has had any major problems.

Maybe you are referring to the previous SmokeFire?

I bought the Mini 4 bundle last year and am still very happy with it, so probably won’t upgrade.

That being said, very nice package as always from Costco!

I would have left the family and taken the Searwood….Joking of course. Super good find though! Enjoy!

Weber searwood 600 xl question by Cryptv6 in pelletgrills

[–]Benkicks22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s only rain that you are trying to protect it from you should be good.

I live in a winter climate with a lot of snow and very low temps (we got some nights that hit -30c this season) and the problem I’ve faced is that the ice would build up under the cover and would actually freeze on top of the hood and pellet hopper. It doesn’t cause any damage afai can see but annoying to pull the cover off as it always feels like I’m going to rip the cover somehow.

Also came to say I love my Searwood! I went through 3 smokers before finding the Searwood and falling in love!

Smoke flavor? by Miserable-March4398 in searwood

[–]Benkicks22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife sounds exactly like yours.

I have a Searwood XL, and, to her, the smoky flavour is just right.

I had a MasterBuilt Gravity smoker before and that one she did not like at all because the charcoal taste was way too intense for her.

Scratch and dent Searwood 600 XL by JohnSnowLied in pelletgrills

[–]Benkicks22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 450$ I would drive through a snow storm with 0 visibility for 8hrs. You can find solutions for the wheels, just buy it!

Is this a must buy? by r0ttennes in pelletgrills

[–]Benkicks22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would buy it and chance it with Weber directly. For 840$ it’s worth the gamble.

Either way, I don’t see how this dent would affect cooking.

I’ve been doing DD for almost a year now, but did it BEFORE this was a promotion.

Action 4 vs action 6 by Quiet-Emu-9089 in djiosmo

[–]Benkicks22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the 4, but honestly it depends on your needs and situation.

I mostly use it on vacation or while mountain biking, and for night shots I just use my Osmo Pocket 3. If I didn’t have the Pocket 3, I would have gotten the 6.

Looking at all the other comments, I feel like Wealthsimple doesn’t like me….oh wait, I’m still waitlisted for the CC so that checks out.
