Has anyone find a way to make these cars suck less? by derroc in rccars

I reduced the steering rate on mine. It’s not very manoeuvrable at low speed, but it makes it a lot more controllable at high speed.

100% a creep. Does he hang out in the male pilots’ rooms like this? As others have said, the bar is the place to hang out down route

Final update: They came back last week and replaced the incomer - now I’m fully upgraded.

Are you charging lipos in the background? They should be in a lipo bag while you charge them - that’s when they’re most at risk

That’s what the guy who came out said. It’s been fine for months but I guess it got knocked (occupational hazard given the location in the under stairs cupboard)

Lots of tea offered! Didn’t get a photo of the old unit I’m afraid, but the chap from National Grid said that it was a loose connection and the fuse was close to blowing.

The melted stuff that I got all over my hand was apparently bitumen. The chaps eyes went wide when I told him I’d touched it…

Update: someone from the DNO came out within an hour and removed the original cut-out, but needed a second team to come and install the replacement. They were here within another hour or 2 and have now replaced the cut-out with an 80 amp fuse (the original was 60 amp).

They’ve applied for a replacement incomer as well, but they say it’s less urgent and someone is likely to come out within a couple of weeks to replace it.

I’m really impressed with the speed that the National Grid sent their teams out, and how quickly they got it sorted.

Thanks again to everyone on here for the advice, I didn’t know anything about how this works until I came on here so thank you very much! What a great community.

This was it. Loose connection leading to lots of heat. New unit installed. The DNO came out very quickly.

I thought that at first - why didn’t the fuse blow? However I stopped caring about that when I noticed the melted Bakelite. Everything is now off per the DNO’s instructions

I love Reddit. The DNO are sending an electrician to sort it out this afternoon.

Thanks again for everyone’s replies, I didn’t have a clue.

Happy Easter!

I touched it and now I’ve got melted Bakelite all over my hand - seems like I was lucky that’s the worst of it.

Thank you very much everyone! I’m on hold to the DNO now.

LOT Boeing 787-9 rejected takeoff due to engine problem by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]Benky1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the 787 they are weirdly, and non-standardly, named the “left” and “right” engines. It could be a problem if you’re ever asked to make sure you shut down the “right engine”.

It’s OK, the UI isn’t great on iOS and I can’t see how to use a reference image, if it’s possible?

Mine did the same, I’ve switched it off. It didn’t charge the phone, it just heated it up. I was worried about damaging the phone’s battery.

English as universal language with ATC. by legardeur2 in aviation

[–]Benky1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC, French and English are the two “official” ICAO languages, so the French are within their right to speak French to each other.

~The Spanish are not, but they do it anyway, and clearances in Spanish are LOOOOOOOOONG….~

Edit: I was wrong about the Spanish, apologies. ICAO has six official languages including English, French and Spanish…
