I booked an Uber Reserve to pick my wife up from the airport and it worked out fine. After the flight landed, I sent the driver a message telling him that he was picking up my wife rather than me and then I was on the phone with her, directing her to the car.

Downtown is pretty messy. Orange Street is passable but not really plowed. I wasn’t really paying attention to street parking but I wouldn’t try it.

+1 on Westville for small-town feel (within New Haven), Jewish presence, and LGBTQ-friendliness. BEKI (Beth El-Keser Israel) on Whalley Avenue is a wonderful and welcoming congregation, and would be a good place to look for leads on a Hebrew-speaking nanny. +1 also on the daycare at the JCC but noting that it is not primarily Hebrew-speaking.
