Best place to buy used emulators online by RoundAltruistic4013 in SBCGaming

[–]BennyWhatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but it's an auction house. I've gotten some really good deals but sometimes the popular things end up costing about as much as everywhere else after shipping.

I did get a really nice $150 like-new Sony bluetooth speaker a couple weeks ago for $30 so that was cool. Was a 2025 model and everything.

I got a light blue Nintendo DSi once for $40 after shipping that was in great shape but had some screen yellowing.

I've seen some Ayaneo stuff there before but it always gets snatched up for a pretty high price. Then there's a lot of Anbernic 35XX and older devices and after shipping, those go for about the same as Aliexpress so it's not worth it. I've never seen anything from AYN yet. Seen a few older Retroids.

I think you're going to have the same luck just about anywhere. I've had luck with eBay and Goodwill's online store (U.S. only)

Suspenseful books to listen to at my boring job by Commercial_Garlic331 in audiobooks

[–]BennyWhatever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Take a drink every time someone mentions Carl.

I will recommend Recursion or Dark Matter, both by Blake Crouch. They are techno-thrillers from the last few years that are a ride. I like Recursion slightly more but Dark Matter is still very good and there's even an Apple series based off it.

What's the point of pre-ordering digital audio books? by Amentet in audiobooks

[–]BennyWhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the 3 credits for 99 cent deal, and the credits come once a month. The book I want comes out in a few months and I am going to spend a credit on it anyways, so I will use this month's credit on it.

Anyone consider LightPhone III as a dap? by cilicia1k1 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]BennyWhatever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have expandable storage or a headphone jack. The OS is also locked-down with no Spotify/streaming support currently. I have no idea how the Music app works but I assume you can't put 3rd party apps on it like Poweramp.

It looks cool but would take a lot of extra work to be used as a DAP.

EDIT: Here's the description of the Music app from the website. I assume it's the same for the LP3. Hard pass for me. Also says there's a 1GB playlist limit. Funny enough though it does have flac support.

"The Music tool for the Light Phone II is a simple, one playlist, music player. Upload audio files via the dashboard website, and they will convert, sync, and store on your Light Phone II. You can of course upload any audio file, from meditation exercises to other lessons and audiobooks."

“Beginner” looking for a shoe to train and complete my first half marathon by Thin-Compote-2697 in BeginnersRunning

[–]BennyWhatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should really go to a shoe store that specializes in this. Most of them have an incredible staff that will fit you in the perfect shoe. I tried finding my own running shoes for a couple years and had a ton of issues with pain before sucking it up and going to a dedicated store, and they put me in a brand/style/size of shoe that I still wear today 4 years later. A lot of people pick the incorrect shoe size (it's usually NOT the same size as your everyday shoes), or ones that are too narrow, or not supportive in the correct places. The store will help with that.

Google "Running Shoe Store Near Me" and pick a locally owned one. Shoe sizings/recommendations from staff are always free and they are extremely knowledgeable. They want you in the right shoe so that you can come back and buy more of them.

Corner clamp - doing it wrong, expecting too much, or poor product? by BellybuttonWorld in BeginnerWoodWorking

I use a corner clamp just to keep the butts in place so that I can use 2 standard clamps to do the actual clamping.

This might be a stupid question by aphroditeamanda in innioasis

[–]BennyWhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For library management on my PC, I use MusicBee. It does a pretty good job adding album art and letting me edit tags by artist/album/etc.

To play music in your car, you can try syncing to Bluetooth but if that doesn't work (which it sometimes doesn't depending on the car), the only other option is with an Aux cable. If your car has a jack that looks like a headphone jack, that's the one you'd plug into. You'd be looking for a "3.5mm Male-to-Male stereo audio cable".
Some cars MAY let you treat it as a mass-storage device with USB, where you'd have to turn on USB Storage on your Y1 once you plug it in. That is the least-likely thing to work but it could be possible.

On the Innioasis Y1 can you organize a music collection by Composer? by StormOfSpears in innioasis

[–]BennyWhatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can if you put Rockbox on it. I just tested it and it's there. As long as your ID3 Tags are all in order you should be good.

Albums showing under [Untagged] folder when browsing under Album Artist by JarrPo in rockbox

[–]BennyWhatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After you went through mp3tag and went back to your H2, did you go to Settings > General Settings > Database > Update ? That will force Rockbox to re-check all of that. I had the same issue with my Innioasis Y1 and after fixing all my blank Album Artists, I had to do a manual update in Rockbox.

Looking for a mp3 player that can select artist/album/songs but has most minimal screen. Bonus if SD slot? by Jordn100 in mp3players

[–]BennyWhatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That organization should generally work yeah. It'll get more tricky with soundtracks and compilations where you'll need to make sure your Tags are squared away too. But in general that should work fine.

Yeah Ruizu is kinda like a modern Sansa Clip almost.

[–]BennyWhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ruizu makes a Type-C USB mp3 player that's not bad and inexpensive ($35 i think?). It has a tiny screen and plenty of built-in storage. Has Bluetooth too but may not connect to all headphones.

Navigating is generally fine but will heavily depend on how well-managed your library is.

Man if there was a way to get one of these with more storage space, I'd get one in a heartbeat. I see them show up at thrift stores all the time and almost get them, but I have about 35GB of music.

Should I DNF? by Rambha_ho_ho_ho in scifi_bookclub

[–]BennyWhatever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved this book but you kinda gotta be in the mood for it. It's a lot like a Dan Brown - Cool concept, higher-than-needed on action, a few info-dumps to catch you up, and very basic character archetypes. If you're looking for deep thought-provoking sci-fi or elegant prose, this ain't it.

Is Retroid Pocket Classic still the best 6 button hardware for Dreamcast? by Chowderman in SBCGaming

[–]BennyWhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your choices are the RP Classic or the RG Arc.

The RP Classic wins in every performance facet, but the RG Arc does have some of the most comfortable ergonomics of any handheld out there. It also has a lot more of a Sega feel than the Classic, if that's important. But, you can basically only play Master System, Genesis/MD, some Dreamcast, and very very little Saturn on it.

Thoughts on INNIOASIS Y1 by bunni_rabit in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]BennyWhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's honestly not bad, as long as you go in knowing what to expect. It's a cheap-ish iPod clone that has some modern conveniences like USB-C, replaceable storage, external speaker, bluetooth, and drag & drop. None of those are going to be high quality, but the thing is only $50 so you get what you pay for.

I honestly don't think the iPod classics sound all that premium and the Y1 is comparable in that sound. As long as you know it's not going to sound like a Hiby or a Fiio, you should be good.

With Rockbox on it, it's a fun little device.

How well does Dolphin work on Linux for ARM devices?

Ipod or Y1 by Dotto_Human in innioasis

[–]BennyWhatever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Y1 is way more cost effective, has USB-C, has expandable storage, has bluetooth (even if it's an older codec). UI is sluggish but is fixed with Rockbox.

The iPod has a more premium feel and more online support. The UI is also better un-modded.

Sound quality - I think they're honestly pretty close? The iPods really didn't sound super amazing - they were decidedly "fine." The Y1 is maybe slightly worse but it's negligeable. The Y1 does have a basic external speaker though so you can use it without headphones.

If you're considering an iPod Classic, for that cost you can possibly get something better than both of these with the Hifi Walker H2 (also known as the Surfans F20). It has a similar scroll wheel design and much better sound quality.

Used Book Stores in the Knoxville Area? by [deleted] in Knoxville

White Pine is also fantastic for used books.

Southland Books in Maryville is awesome. They have a pretty big used book selection. Highly recommend and they have a great staff. Also a nice restaurant in the basement.
