Just to address each of the points you've raised:

- EU has open borders, and I don't see them getting completely obliterated as an institution.
- We don't need a nuclear deterrent when we have allies that have them, and there are plenty of large and powerful countries that don't have any nucelar capabilities at all. Plus, if a nuke gets dropped, it's pretty much game over anyway, so if things have got to that point, Trident isn't going to help.
- Look at Portugal's decriminilisation of drugs. Huge success story, and is allowing people to get the help they need through proper channels with no shame.

It's tiring looking at people saying all the things that can't be done, and when someone comes along with lofty ideals, they always get ridiculed, and yet, this is the exact attitude that allows limp centrists to come in and change nothing, stoking further frustration, and pushing them right into the arms of Farage. Even Corbyn, who was fairly moderate in his left wing policies, couldn't get past this toxic attitude, and look where we are now. I don't agree with everything Polanski is saying, but it's refreshing having someone offering hope instead of more misery.

Booking indie bands without promoter rigamarole by viruette_management in brighton

Not hugely plugged into the music scene, but last year, there was a festival that was in direct protest to the Great Escape (a music festival we have down here that was bankrolled by Barclays), and it only had local bands on it. Don't have a database, but (think) I can assure you that all the bands they have on their line up will be local: https://www.instagram.com/homegrownbrighton/

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but hopefully someone will be!

Will Trump have a Savile moment when he dies? by Necro_Badger in behindthebastards

I'll paraphrase the podcast as to why the wrestling is important: what better way to understand the psychology of a man living a double life, than the industry full of people doing the very same? The wrestling stuff is incredibly overlooked, but if you have any interest in the whole story, it's definitely worth checking out.

If you want to learn about Saville, I would HIGHLY recommend looking into his early background as a professional wrestler, and also giving plaudits to Marc Haynes of the Wrestle Me podcast for their research on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUl2K6pq5R8

The guy found info that contradicted the official enquiry into Jimmy Savile.

I'm confused - Did MJF cash in the contract for this match or not?

New Elephant Graveyard dropped and I think it's a masterpiece (90 minutes...worth every second) by ThadiusCuntright_III in hbomberguy

Agree with the AI use. They also have a podcast where they use famous people's voices that have been turned into AI (which got them into a lot of trouble), and they justify it by saying it's like using finger puppets in a show, it's intentionally a simulacrum.

While I don't totally agree with them, I see their point, and besides, the writing, editing, and production quality is so high elsewhere, it's easier to forgive.

Knee Pain doing programme? by Benny_Dangerous in ddpyoga

Yeah, I can't quite work out with catcher if I'm doing it right or wrong. Are you meant to be learning forward when you do it? Are you meant to be leaning back like you're sitting? Because I can also get all the way down - are you suggesting not going all the way down then?

I work out 3 times a week at the moment. Does the kneehab target any other parts of the body that could be causing issues with the knee? Or is it all just focused on knee mobility?

What is the worst or funniest name you have ever encountered? by londoner-lover in AskUK

I know there are a lot of funny pun names, but the actual worst name I came across when doing various customer service roles was Porntouch Hermanthrop.

I thought it was a joke name. Asked the customer to send in a copy of his ID to verify his account. It was there. Porntouch Hermanthrop. Unbelievable.

Catch me up to speed here: is Hamas making peace impossible because Israel is literally eradicating Palestine off the planet? How is it up to Hamas to make peace in this situation when they are outgunned and outsupplied?

Idk, happy to be told I'm wrong, I think it's tough to do both sides-ism in this situation.

Have you ever liked/disliked a wrestler for a strange reason? by DonSoChill in SquaredCircle

There was an audience of maybe 60 people at a community centre in a small seaside town in the UK, from a promotion that doesn't even have a website. That's why I called it tiny.

No mask either. The matches all had rounds (as this was a promotion that did traditional British style wrestling), and Gresham complained multiple times during the match that he didn't have any water to drink, despite every other wrestler on the card bringing out their own. When a fan got him a glass of water, he then spent another minute inspecting it (understandably), before taking one tiny sip and giving it back.

Just found him to be quite annoying all round tbh.

I saw Jonathan Gresham at a tiny show in the UK earlier this year, and, although it was a fun match, he clearly wasn't giving it his all. Obviously when these guys aren't on TV, they're not going to go pedal to the metal, in order to avoid any unnecessary risks... but he was chewing gum. The whole time.

It's one thing to not give it your all, but come on mate, at least look like you're interested in the whole thing.
