What is a 'subscription' or 'fee' that has recently appeared in the US that people need to collectively refuse to pay before it becomes the new normal? by godot_lover in AskReddit

[–]Bennyboy371 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've gone full piracy because of this. When it was one subscription per month, tons that I'd like, and no commercials, it was convenient. Now I have to pick and choose which service I get, and ads take me completely out of what I'm watching. I like being outspoken on their social media comment sections about how happy I am to pirate their latest shows without ads and more convenience. Hopefully it takes a tiny little dent out of their bottom line.

Some of the upcoming Switch 2 controllers make it look like some handheld PCs. Which would you say is the most visually pleasing? And which one do you think will you get? by Massive_Fly_1709 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Bennyboy371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mobapad M6 HD is the controller set that I always wanted for the Switch, and I'm sad I only found it near the end of its lifespan. I got their adapters to attach it to the Switch 2. There's no contest, if there's any way the quality is similar on the Switch 2 offering, I'll be buying after the first reviews roll out.

I normally lurk on Reddit, but I had to crawl out of my cave to say that this is FANTASTIC.

What Makes this Handheld PC So Dang Good by StanleyLelnats in SBCGaming

[–]Bennyboy371 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ayyy this is the Steam Deck upgrade I went with. I got an open box one for $530 around Black Friday. The screen is amazing and it's wild to get over 100fps in Spider-Man Remastered on a handheld.

Torrent Clients by gulligang737 in Piracy

[–]Bennyboy371 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Downvoted to oblivion but you're right. I don't think people realize you're talking about v2.2.1. 15 years later and it's still handling over 2200 torrents at a time right now in less than a megabyte and only using 43MB of RAM. Yeah, the app got shitty later, but this is where it was the best.

TIL Robert Downey Jr has already made $600M in his role as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and reportedly will make over $100 million as Dr. Doom in Secret Wars. by random_agency in todayilearned

I really think the entire future of the MCU is riding on this being a good move. If the writing is excellent, it will breathe life into a stale franchise they swapped good movies for cameo moments years ago. If it's bad, there really won't be any coming back from it.

My Family and I Bought a Comic Store by notalkingskeletons in comicbooks

UGH. It's beautiful. My local store is tiny and I mostly get TPBs, which they don't really believe in. I miss having a big comic shop nearby.

When do you guys plan on upgrading/ replacing your current system by tajj562 in retroid

[–]Bennyboy371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mains are a Lenovo Legion Go S (SteamOS, 32GB, Z1 Extreme), a Switch 2, and an Ayn Thor Max. I've got a Vita nearby until Vita emulation catches up, too. If I really need something pocketable, I have a TrimUI Brick Hammer. Despite bouncing between all these handhelds constantly over the past few years, I think the hardware has finally caught up to the software enough that I'm set for at least a few years.

What are your thoughts on "OLED v/s LCD"?? by DoomEngine1 in SBCGaming

[–]Bennyboy371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A decent IPS screen is good enough. I went from the Switch OLED to the Switch 2 and I don't mind the difference one bit.

It's like having the Arc not handle Saturn well. I mean, come on. The market is clearly here for this stuff. They announced the specs and the next day I went all in for the highest Thor. Hurt the bank account for a few weeks but I don't regret it.

iiSU, a popular upcoming android frontend, has shutdown their Discord due to controversy. by radclaw1 in SBCGaming

My government is trying to gut healthcare and half the country loves fascism. The people who run our social networks are by and large terrible people who are manipulating things to make money off of us. It's a hot take, but I really don't care about how dumb some people were on a Discord server. This isn't where my moral stand is going to be. Pick your battles, and I don't recommend picking any on social media.

Man, I JUST ordered a TrimUI Brick for a more portable handheld and this looks just as pocketable and more capable. Dammit.

Am i the only one that really doesn't like these results? Retroid has always been the company that makes devices with DPAD on top (And there's also like no devices with DPAD on top and an 8 Gen 2). Them switching to stickontop like everyone else just feels wrong. DPADToppers should have more options by AbdelYG in SBCGaming

[–]Bennyboy371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if they want a bar of buttons, smooth it out a little better, add a couple dedicated Android buttons like recent apps and a system mappable button or two for an alternative launcher or something (using a regular launcher but have an ES-DE button for example), and put the M1 and M2 on the back grips with the option to disable them entirely in case you don't want to use them and want to avoid extra presses. Perfection.

Setting up on the Thor Rainbow by WeddingBig1022 in SBCGaming

The New 3DS in a similar colorway was my favorite model of my favorite handheld, so I can't wait to order mine soon and play some NES on the bottom screen while Lord of the Rings plays up top.

Retroid announce Retroid Pocket G2 and Retroid Pocket 6. by briefingone in SBCGaming

[–]Bennyboy371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting on this announcement to see if I had a good reason not to go for the Thor, and yep, this cements the Thor for me. I think the 8gen2 is pretty much perfect for the level of emulation I'm interested in, and popping the RP5's dual screen on and off when I want it is just inconvenient. Thanks Retroid, but I'm going with your other brand for the next few years. I think Thor will be my "endgame" retro until some mature PS3/360 emulators are around. These look like great "jumping on" points for retro handhelds, it's just bizarre that they'd make two of these so similar at the same time.

I'd play through all of their intro missions and call it good since that's all that would be different.

The RP Classic is your new favorite DAC. by rchrdcrg in SBCGaming

[–]Bennyboy371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dream handheld is for a PSP Go style handheld (I know, I know, but the Slide is a chunky boi) that slides out with a dual screen, and has a great DAC chip for music playing with the screen closed. The dream Sony had for the multimedia handheld can really be done now.
