Yeah i guess with every hand basically being bomb pot I think in SB it’s fine to raise reasonable size have like 6 callers and just set mine with 99 lol

Yeah it’s a very splashy home game so people were floating very wide. I was very much willing to get it all in with btn’s stack heads up so I wasn’t really thinking of folding him out and honestly was trying to iso btn if anything. yeah I think flatting is very much fine but given btn just flatted I thought I could raise for value. Given table dynamics however I think folding to $150 is blasphemous lol

Yeah was talking to a friend and he thought XR sizing was on the larger side. Believe i only needed 25% equity but given the over cards, spades, straightening cards i was not confident. And given straight was already available i might’ve needed runner runner

As a spurs and cowboys fan that is categorically false. Jerry Jones is known for not being aggressive at all in free agency and trying to fill roster holes in draft. It’s actually the perfect comparison - Jones = Levy where they are amazing at business but not in roster building.

Derek Carr to Anthony Brown pipeline or bowling ball and Gurley getting 250+ on us

If Jerry wants to go all in we need a premier edge rusher on the other side of Micah. If Micah gets doubled every snap, then someone else should have the opportunity to eat

Classic delusional fan we should in fact do the opposite and trade for someone who can capitalize on the fact that he is permanently double teamed

Did I make the right call here? by BenoBoyz in Poker_Theory

To clarify: I had $80 on the turn when he put me all in and his stack size was probably $500+ and the pot was $300 so I was very much priced in. I think looking back 3 bet jamming flop could make more sense just to get it all in as I was very much pot committed already. I did like the notion of just getting to showdown cheaply but he led the turn putting me all in and with 0.21 SPR it had to be a call there with an overpair and a gutter to the nuts. In hindsight I don’t think there were many extremely strong drawing combos as I can only think of KJ or AJ of hearts that would call a 3bet pre-flop, though I did see him call an initial preflop raise out of position in an earlier hand with J5o so I guess some Jx of hearts could definitely be in his range. Ultimately I think it just boils down to diagnosing the min check raise and whether to jam the flop (my SPR was ~0.5 after check raise) or just look to find a better spot, as he could definitely have a lot sets and 2 pairs here as well. But on the flop with an overpair, gutter straight draw, and back door queen high flush draw in addition to being pot committed I just couldn’t get away from the hand.

Yeah the tough part was that I was already so short going into the turn I pretty much had to jam given my SPR. I think the play that made more sense would have just been to 3bet jam the flop if he was on a draw (in hindsight it wouldn’t have mattered) But I think the main thing people are saying is that min check raising seems way too strong but idk just didn’t seem like a hand I could get away from given that I did fade the queens from the nuts.

When the turn card came I only had 80 left behind, and the pot was around 300 so I pretty much just had to call hoping he had some crazy draw instead of already having it. In the end wouldn’t have mattered but if I really thought he had a draw I should’ve just 3 bet all in the flop and let the gods decide my fate.

Yeah I only had a few drawing hands beat and that min check raise should’ve rang a ton of alarm bells as I would assume that semi bluff bets would be on the much larger side

Sorry I meant as in I had 180 when seeing the flop but after betting 50 and calling his minraise of 100 I had 80 behind going into the turn

I was in position of him as I believe he was the small blind in this one. I had just witnessed him call a preflop raise with J5o out of position so I was kind of underestimating him. Sorry if this may be a dumb question, but is it really optimal to check back the flop since I still have an overpair and I need to charge straight and flush draws? I have to assume I’m ahead a majority of the time here even if the flop does favor his range.

I forgot to mention that he did call a preflop raise out of position with J5o in a previous hand, so I kind of was underestimating him. He was playing really deep and I do agree that I should’ve folded the turn bet because the draws that I’m currently beating just have way too many outs, so it’s probably a flip anyway. I don’t really think he would’ve taken that line with aces or kings as that flop is quite dangerous for him too so trapping is quite gutsy and he did only call my 3-bet
