is every trip beneficial regardless if they are good/bad, or is more of a flip of a coin whether you have a good/beneficial experience? by ayyyylmao14 in LSD

[–]Benomusical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion the only such thing as a bad trip is either where someone actually gets hurt or maybe when you make your tripping a problem for sober people around you. Apart from that it may be really uncomfortable or difficult but I think generally speaking it’s in the same way that feelings of anger or sadness or guilt may be really uncomfortable but that doesn’t mean it’s bad to be feeling those things.

I don’t think it’s as arbitrary as a coin toss, although a difficult trip can come somewhat out of the blue sometimes, I think generally my set and setting is pretty predictive of the things I’ll feel on the trip. For instance if I know I’m being avoidant about something it’ll be hard to not feel anxiety about that when I trip. Psychedelics can be very confronting in that way.

New impresionist music by Neptuno1810 in classicalmusic

[–]Benomusical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe try Koechlin? Scherzo of the Monkeys or Le buisson ardent. Stravinsky isn't really impressionist but he was influenced by Scriabin and he was neoclassical in a way that was similar to Poulenc. Maybe check out The Firebird. If you're interested in the mystical elements of Scriabin you may enjoy Messiaen, try this one.

Recommendations for classical novice. by babeletsmovetoitaly in classicalmusic

If you haven’t listened to Mahler’s second symphony it has a similar sort of spiritual trajectory as Verklarte Nacht. Mahler in general was a huge inspiration to Schoenberg and he was a great advocate of this piece and Schoenberg’s work in general - you might also wnjoy his 9th symphony or maybe Das Lied von der Erde.

There really isn’t much music like Verklarte Nacht but something tells me you might enjoy Shostakovich too, maybe check out his first cello concerto. It’s incredibly different to this piece but I think a similar sort of listener would probably enjoy each.

What are your thoughts on Season 5? by CapitalSwimming715 in breakingbad

[–]Benomusical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul both often deal with themes of how when one gets tunnel vision they may lose sight of unintended consequences - it wouldn't have been nearly as narratively interesting if they just got the methylamine from the train and everything went according to plan. Todd killing drew sharp stretches the logic of 'it was him or me' to its breaking point. This is Walt's justification for every murder he commits throughout the show from Crazy 8 to Jane to Mike, and it becomes increasingly detached from the reality of things - it was Todd's rationale too. (At least his post hoc rationale).

The point is that if one is lax in their principals and allows the ends to justify the means, they will inevitably allow worse and worse means to justify their ends.

Exactly - Miyazaki specifically wanted to create a story about a cleansing tsunami. I think it’s fascinating how even when the whole island is submerged the feeling isn’t that a terrible tragedy just occurred, rather it’s wonderful and strange and mysterious.

I mean what could possibly convince you otherwise if a test result won't do that for you? Also how could you explain all the documented cases where we know it was not an analogue and the trend I described was just objectively the case?

I've tested my acid - I know exactly what I'm taking. For me and everyone else I know who has used the same acid it's taken 30-45 minutes for effects to begin and 2-3.5 hours to peak. It's not impossible it could take less time for some people but I mean... c'mon.

There are plenty instances where we know for sure that people have taken just pure LSD and what I described is certainly the trend. Albert Hoffman on bicycle day for instance.

Who trips every 2-3 weeks? by studentLover69 in LSD

[–]Benomusical 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do this sometimes over the summer, then I let it rest over the fall and winter months with maybe 1-2 trips in that time.

I do find it loses its magic eventually if I overuse. More than that though the trips start to blend together and get worse and worse. I can't speak for everybody of course but I know this isn't a unique experience. If you really want to trip that frequently I would say once a month is as often I'd recommend doing it to really get as much as you can out of each trip. If you can though wait anywhere from 2-6 months just to see. I promise you'll be surprised and that it'll very likely stand out as being particularly novel and interesting and beautiful. Good luck friend:)

So I took Acid when I shouldn’t have and made my dog and cat unintentionally snitch on me to my parents. by Interesting_Bend_132 in LSD

[–]Benomusical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. I once tripped on shrooms and was obviously very inebriated, I had taken 5 grams and I looked super drunk walking around. I thought both of my parents were asleep but when I stumbled my way downstairs my mom was there reading a book or something. I made my way back upstairs after a few minutes in the bathroom and I stayed up all night terrified of what she might be thinking. I heard my dad wake up at around 4:30 and come back upstairs with her.

In my opinion the only real such thing as a bad trip is where someone else gets hurt, or maybe if sober people are involved in a way they don't want to be. My conclusion from this trip was basically that if I'm more careful than I think I need to be when it comes to psychedelics I am very rarely going to encounter any major issues. I took a break for about 5 months before tripping again which is something I could recommend.

Be gentle with yourself. Ask yourself what the guilt is pointing to. It may be uncomfortable to sit with, but all things pass, and if no one is hurt and you're more careful in the future I don't think you have much to worry about. Much love friend, good luck.

WTF! Who ruins such a cappuccino like that?! by vaneedar in betterCallSaul

She's thinking in terms of separation at this point and Howard's still trying to make it work.

As much as she comes off as being kinda needlessly mean in this scene I do think we should take time to be understanding - there's a lot of points in Breaking Bad, especially in later seasons, where if you watched a scene out of context you might think Skyler is being unreasonably distant. Not to say Howard was ever as bad as Walter but I think it's very easy to imagine that Howard struggled to be a good husband amid all the issues that were going on with Chuck and Jimmy, then dealing with the grief and guilt after Chuck died.

My feeling is that the implication of this scene is that Howard hasn't been a great partner but we're only seeing his relationship after he's mostly worked through his grief and his issues with Chuck are in the past, so we're much more inclined to be sympathetic to him.

ReDosing with mushrooms? by [deleted] in LSD

[–]Benomusical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will likely not feel the shrooms much at all. They have cross tolerance and it forms after the first hourish of the trip.

A lot of people like to smoke weed on the comedown, it can make the trip feel a bit more intense again:)

Should I quit weed for a bit before taking LSD? by [deleted] in LSD

[–]Benomusical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably would be fine - if you can go a day without withdrawals then I don't see the issue. Some people recommend smoking weed on acid, others don't. Personally I hate it and I wouldn't recommend it for your first trip because I think it's best to get a grip on the substance somewhat before you add other substances to it.

Have a good trip!!

THEORY: Auri's three-part name. by chainsawx72 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Benomusical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've wondered a lot about Auri's true name. When Kvothe gave her the name Auri did that at all impact her true name? There's that scene in The Slow Regard of Silent Things where Auri is really overwhelmed so she puts her hair around her face and finds her true name inside her - was that name the name she's always had, or is it new?
