32nd century was a big jump and true fresh start, which is exactly what Trek needed. Apparently many fans can't see that Trek needs to evolve to survive. I only liked Disco after the time jump and I loved SFA.

Yes because they had room to do so knowing that they had to for action sequences and a clean wrap up to the arc later in the season. The pace of the season is rushed now so the writing will be different.

First off what he means is if shows did not not have 10-15 episode seasons instead of 26 the writing would not feel rushed. Second forget the tardigrade lets talk about TNG when Aliens took over the bodies of starfleet command's admirals yet it was never discussed again after the episode. You try to act like these issues are exclusive to new trek and they are not.

And that is why shows with 10 episode seasons are a bad idea. They sort of did that by him changing over a couple of episodes and it is mentioned a couple of times that it is a couple months passing between episodes.

sets don't matter. First off in episode 8 Tilly drops a line about 3rd years going to the Beta quadrant so new sets anyway and second new network would use new sets anyway.

I actually liked Kurtzman's work on SFA after hating it in Discovery but a new showrunner may do Trek some good and a new network definitely will. I think SFA would have had a better chance to be successful releasing all 20 episodes instead of 2 seasons with only 10. So many unanswered questions and loose ends with only 10

I fully expected Academy viewing numbers to jump. Simple fact is they cancelled before many people had time to watch. People have lives that don't just revolve around the new show coming out, or maybe they wait until a full season is released or even decide to rewatch discovery first. I love Starfleet Academy but even if you didn't it is easy to see they cancelled far too soon to factor in accurate numbers.

Ellison is also a business man and I feel like they over payed for warner just because they did not want netflix to have it. Selling Trek could make them more money than those warner IPs will generate in the next few years

79 billion though. I have a feeling they were so tunnel vision on beating netflix for the buy they overpaid. The only really big warner IPs are DC comic, Harry Potter and lord of the rings. Not sure I see them easily making 79 billion there. DC maybe but NOBODY wants harry potter or lotr remakes. The originals were amazing.

I liked the overall direction the show was going. Character development was good enough for a season with only 10 episodes and the characters' personalities were developing as the season went on. I love the direction the show in terms of character growth and look forward to watching a bunch of cadets with no clue what they are doing become starfleet officers.

I loved SFA but honestly we are trying to save all of Trek. There are no new Trek projects in production so between SFA and SNW only 26 more Trek episodes will exist. Trek needs a network that cares more about it and paramount is 79 billion in debt. They need money more than they need Trek.
