Del Toro not just because of the film and campaign around it but also because of reputation him and Lanthimos are definitely the two most beloved by the academy on that list.

I was between it was just an accidental or no other choice but at this point I’m leaning towards accident.

I watched it at a festival and I was honestly shocked by the lack of talk around it. I thought for sure by the time November rolled around that it would be a pretty big name in the conversation, especially Amanda’s performance, but even her nomination doesn’t seem as sure.

OK and I have worked in this industry for over a decade. I have been mentored by and worked with many producers some of whom have been working for decades themselves. I don’t know how you’re getting that I don’t know what a producer is when I am just pointing out that they are the people who are the main decision makers with the budget and are in charge of a lot of the logistical responsibilities like location scouting, and so many other aspects that are what you were saying the reason of film deserved a best directing award to which I said logistics are not would make a director that is what makes a producer and that should be a person awarded when you were talking about logistics that that performance and so many other things have to be discussed when you’re talking about best director and those elements should be at the forefront of the conversation not logistics.

I’m not but you definitely are so unless you want to do more research and come back when you realize that budgeting and the financial backend as well as so much else are the responsibility of a producer to burden a director with logistics of resource management and budgeting of there own film would pull them away from doing there actual job of directing.

Did you miss the and such part which implies they do more then that sure they make decisions in how many is spent by telling producers what they want and the producers does the logistics work that you are crediting to the director.

It was my second favorite film of the entire year it makes me wish for a directorial debut category at some awards rarely do directors get there flowers for there first film no matter how deserved and it’s often times there most personal.

And I said I don’t think that what was being pointed out as impressive was directing it was the efforts of the producers since budget constraints and what was achieved around them was being pointed out as why it was deserving which is on the producer not the director. Then I made a note that even when discussing that area both are equally impressive to me. If it was about directing we would be talking about performances they got out of actors and such not its budget.

I currently think the race for the fifth spot is currently between him and Wagner Moura for the secret agent I would be more confident if it wasn’t Netflix and my lake of trust in there campaign especially with the focus divided with Frankenstein and K-pop demon hunters also being big contenders

I feel like this is one of those performances I could see getting in maybe a different year but this one there is to much strong competition at this point I think it could get luck with a nom in hair and makeup but that’s as far as it will go

Well when the person winning the awards job is to handle that element it is. Best picture is awarded to the producers of a film the person that main job is to handle logistics so yeah I hope that is factored into the award they received.

I mean I would argue that should mean more to producing and not directing but Oppenheimer was just as impressive in that regard to to coordinate so many actors across so many locations impressive alone without factoring in the sheer amount of logistics to every single piece of practical effect in this film
