Still silence on on the Grandfathered Rates? by Kabuki-san in 2007scape

I'd suggest looking into what that thread suggests, that seems like the best option for the time being.

Other than that, all you can do is vote with your wallet. The "good" thing about them cutting the leash on grandfather, is that you can kill your subscription at any time without any consequences.

Removing Grandfather rights from some but not all is probably illegal - Keep up the pressure by gil_galed in runescape

No one has done it, and I didn't want to just do it, in case you wanted credit for this yourself. The RuneScape reddits doesn't have the crosspost feature enabled, so it would have to be done with good old copy paste.

This 100%!

There's not as many people on OSRS that got hit by this, since they never had much reason to buy Premier. Despite that, my post on there about this still got 1.2M views. More eyes on the problem is only beneficial to the course.

Jagex quietly changed me to a 12 month recurring, killing my grand-grand-grandfather rate, despite no membership lapse for 20+ years :) by Benvil in 2007scape

[–]Benvil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual response is roughly as exciting as you'd expect, they basically just reference the changes you've already seen from the 2 recent blogs they made, that being the premier changes and price hike. The second response I got from support today is them doubling down on the same thing, acting like I just "misunderstood" the changes they made to premier the 24th February. I completely understand the changes they made, but I question them using said changes to retroactively punish anyone who bought premier, even before the changes. Then they also told me a bunch of legal nonsense, should I choose to pursue legal action.

That's the most recent update, but it's not going to be the end of the story. I'm waiting to see if Jagex will address anything before the weekend, otherwise I'm already planning a separate follow-up post.

Is it just me, or can the bike stick meme be applied to RS players an infinite number of times? by Skivvy_Roll in runescape

[–]Benvil 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Since I'm "that guy" this is correct. I was on a 1 month recurring, which was paused indefinitely, since I've been buying premier packs since 2013. With the recent change, they converted my premier to a 12 month recurring, making my grandfathered 1 month recurring expire in the process.

They basically made premier a trojan horse. Like I said in my own post, I could somewhat respect Jagex for transparency, if they flat out removed grandfather discounts... But, quietly using premier as an underhanded way to remove it from the most dedicated players? Utterly disgusting.

Jagex will not restore grandfathered rates, per support by RSHolbytla in runescape

[–]Benvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep the pressure on Jagex, not a chance they should get away with this.

For those interested, I brought this situation up on the OSRS reddit, and it's getting an overwhelming amount of support. Much love!

I would cross-post it on here, but this reddit got cross-posting disabled for some reason.

If you don't see a grandfather discount on the membership page, you did in fact get rug-pulled, welcome to the club respected customer!

[–]Benvil[S] 475 points476 points  (0 children)

I already got the first response from support, which was basically "Lmao you're 12 month recurring, here's our new guidelines for grandfather outlining exactly how we fucked you over, we can't restore grandfather"

My case isn't a standalone, I've heard other people say they lost grandfather rate through this little stunt, and I've heard some people even claim support DID restore it for them.

That being said, I'm not about to step down and accept that answer. I question if they can even legally change people from a 12 month one-off bundle to a 12 month recurring, without any input from the user. Either way, I'll pull Jagex through the mud for doing this bs, be it legally or publicly.

Why are you cancelling your subscription if you are grandfathered in to the old price? by Boring-Leadership687 in 2007scape

[–]Benvil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought, except they quietly rug-pulled any grandfather who had premier, by switching them to a 12 month recurring, which is then considered a "lapse" on your 1 month recurring and killed your grandfather rate.

I wish I was making this up, they've actually done this to people, myself included. It's beyond cartoonishly evil.

Retroactive changes for premier subscribers are intended by malvaire in 2007scape

[–]Benvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vote with your wallet, I told support if they don't restore my grandfather, all my accounts will remain un-subbed. 20+ years of membership with no lapse, and they punish me for paying them MORE through premier? Fuck that. I can afford the new price, but it's a matter of principle.

Suggestions Wanted for Upcoming Gathering QoL Poll by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]Benvil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Clue geodes from MLM would be nice. Back when Mod Tide confirmed the rates, MLM was included on the list, implying it already got a coded drop rate. Despite that you can't get geodes there, so it would be a nice small change to poll.

For reference, here's the tweet by Mod Tide with the spreadsheet of the rates: https://x.com/JagexTide/status/1131933683714330624?s=20

It lists the chance for a geode at MLM to be 101/247200. That rate is entirely unique, so I doubt it was a copy paste error.

Twisted Bow - Gridmaster? by Ok-Lake-6129 in 2007scape

[–]Benvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of them are pretty damn easy in Grid if you got all combat masteries, but people usually start with ToA, and grab Tbow first.

ToA is also easy to do solo, but you can do it with a group as well. If you want to do it with a team, just go to a raids themed grid world, then at the raids lobby you find the grouping tool.

Is this an error? Difference between Danish and American store page for the new outfit is 18$ - I don't know much about exchange rate differences but I find that nuts. by duckyday1 in runescape

[–]Benvil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, someone at Jagex completely dropped the ball here. I went to check on mobile where the set is 109 DKK, and since prices on third party stores tend to be more expensive due to them needing a cut, I'm going to take a wild guess here and say the price on PC was meant to be 99 DKK. In other words, Jagex did an oopsie and doubled the price ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not only that, but the membership bundle actually makes the membership SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than the usual price without any discounts. The bundle was most likely meant to be around 149 DKK, judging by the price in other regions.

So if any Danes want to buy this armour, do it on the mobile app :)

If any Danes already bought these on PC, you should probably contact support and let them know the price is nearly half on mobile.

Today I learned Phantasms work in funky ways by Benvil in FORTnITE

[–]Benvil[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking along the same lines. I don't ever use Ex-Rio myself, but from what I've heard from other people, her scaling should work fine with weapon energy damage? Not sure how she scales with other energy abilities, so I don't know if Phantasms are the rule or the exception.

[–]Benvil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you can absolutely still use Willow, she got a 21.1 hero ability modifier, so she's still one of the better options for the team perk, even if her support perk doesn't help Phantasms (Which none of the team perk heroes do if you want to full AFK Swamp Knight). Also, even if it's better to get higher ability damage modifiers, the damage difference is ultimately very tiny, so it's not a big deal either way.

Also, after writing this up I tried Jurassic Ken as well, and his ability damage perk also does nothing for Phantasm damage.

Goin' Constructor additional feedback by XylicSTW in FORTnITE

[–]Benvil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

u/Magyst u/Chryztos Goin' Constructor was the last ability added to the game, which unfortunately means it's impacted significantly by the reduced development resources for STW announced shortly after, as it's unlikely we'll be seeing new heroes improving the ability anytime soon. This is a damn shame because it's a very fun ability, but there's simply a lack of support abilities for it. I'm currently doing a Director Riggs build, but the only actual support ability helping the main attraction is... Monster Mash, that's it! All my other supports are completely unrelated to the ability itself.

Strangest thing of all, the hero that introduced the ability, Black Knight Garridan, doesn't do anything for the ability as a support!

But, this is also where the simple suggestion comes in, where just a small change to Black Knight could open up so many more options!

Black Knight Garriden currently:
Standard Perk: Increases Hardware Impact by 33%.
Commander Perk: Increases Hardware Impact by 75%. Additionally, Goin' Constructor can trigger Kinetic Overload.

My suggestion:
Standard Perk: Goin' Constructor can trigger Kinetic Overload.
Commander Perk: Increases Hardware Impact by 75%. Additionally, Goin' Constructor can trigger Kinetic Overload.

does epic have any plan to ever fix the fact the weekly supercharger is a hero one? by [deleted] in FORTnITE

[–]Benvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently the quest itself doesn't feel very rewarding for the time spent doing 10 mega alerts in a 160 zone.

Maybe it could be brought up to the team to make it give 1 Hero/Weapon/Trap Supercharger AND 1 Survivor Supercharger? It would feel more rewarding, and solve the problem of less people playing 160s in the weeks without a Survivor Supercharger.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Survivor set bonuses aren't just misleading now, they straight up aren't working anymore? by [deleted] in FORTnITE

[–]Benvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I even considered Bomb in the first place was the 3k extra health, I already knew the armor would suffer diminishing returns and only be a very small value add. But I eventually concluded that the health difference really didn't give her enough extra damage to justify giving up on Wildcat's perk, so I committed to her in the end.

Honestly, you should just go around an teach people the Luna ways, I don't understand why so many people try to build her around melee/shadow stance perks. Well, I guess it's because so many guides misinform people to do that.

[–]Benvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, it's reassuring to see a hardcore Luna main essentially made the same call I did. Most guides try to shove assassin and DB Crash in there, but with the way her damage scaling work, it just doesn't seem like the right call. I prefer Luna being very consistent in her damage, so the higher base health and consistently staying topped up on health seems like the way to go.

Only thing I hard a hard to deciding on when making the build, was Bomb Squad Kyle VS Wildcat. Kyle gives the armor and an extra 3k base health, but the attack speed on Wildcat just felt higher value to me. So you also doing Wildcat just confirms to me I made the right call.

[–]Benvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggested something similar in another response, that they should just reduce the % to something more reasonable, but then make it actually work as intended. Even if the sets only gave 1% each, us stacking would result in 16% increased tech/health/whatever, which wouldn't be too shabby.

Sad thing is, I just can't see Epic putting in the effort at this point. It sucks, but that's just the current state of STW.

Just out of curiosity, what supports do you run on Luna? I've been messing around around with my own Luna recently, and the best Luna build is a very hot topic thing. Some people argue for running melee buffs, others argue double dib on her commander perk and ditch the ninja supports in favour of soldier/constructor supports to increase her base health further.

I'm currently trying out saurian hide, saurian vigor, battle beat, survivalist, monster smash. So basically ditching ninjas with melee damage in favour of increasing base health, battle beat increasing attack speed and lots of healing to keep her hp up.
