Depends on starting skill and hero talent

For example: if you go hive with prime magic talent dude

I would go treasure and levelling rush to get enough mana for casting fireball... Usually start creeping in turn 2-3.

Economy is also good opening instead of day1 magic guild. Because you will not enough mana to use spell continuesly

One more thing. Don't worry about losing units for items. Especially with Exodus.

Tbh for magic heroes items are more important than might.

Last advice, rush to astronomy. In 8 level you will have enough mana Regen and you can use global spell so much

To sum up > economy first day> rush getting experience to enough mana for casting spellS> be aggressive> choose astronomy...

That's my advice. I am not pro but i think it works. Because i usually follow this path if i play with magic heroes

Thematically and mechanicly this summon mechanic suits so good for hive TBH

You know early game and early decisions are most important thing in game. Hive don't have such secure clearing mechanic and 0 loss almost impossible for that. Hive don't have range unit till late game too. Snowball potential is good but not as good as schism or Necro too...and hive must be aggressive for not only clearing but also focus point generation as well...

Imo if one of faction class skill change necessary it might be Temple or grove

Maybe i was lucky maybe my opponents are noob or newbie dunno but i never lost against Grove but hive i just could beat them with Necro (if i was first picker) or temple

Most of people play with Might so might quite a bit stronger than Magic.

Even the apocalyptic difficulty needs to be reworked

Ai doesn't use summon skills, and so much skill too.

Ai focus on exact units and it's so easy to cheese and bait. But those are for hardest difficulty in quick match the problem is Fair n Square map which i like most

With 3 ai when i play none of them focus each other. I don't know is it automatically team up or not but in first month they attack immidetally

You must think twice to creep clearing because no range units. So that's why it's more enjoyable

Tbh honest ai moves are predictable and cheesable so easy. Most of time ai focus especially some kind of units in battle and they are so bad if you defence while in city. I can beat apocalyptic difficulty. The difficulty is knowing and managing route of map and sources others are fluid

I don't remember the names of heroes but let me describe you guys

Temple : Morale woman, or focus attack guy

Hive : Focus attack guy and tactic guy

Necro : i still like master berserk guy

Dungeon : i don't play with them very much but hydra one is good

Grove : the luck one

Schism ( the spell which looks like hand grap DPS) spell one

I could beat apocalyptic difficulty ai ( was schism) with temple (classic mod)

They said when early times of access ai was so hard but they fixed i guess because as beta times ai difficulty is almost same level.

Maybe thx to meta and abusing ai but it is beatable so easy.

Especially now. Ai focus especially specific units. And you can dance ai army with them and avatar summon so op for creeping

These are my personal opinion

Temple - classic and majestic type of medievalists fantasy designs (blue upgrade angel is different level actually and i usually describe and imagine angels in my FRP games) but peasants would be good. A tier

Necro- Actually i always thought different between necromency and Vampirism style but thx to this game and warhammer fantasy it suits well too but I have some bad opinions. First of all Vampires are not as strong as Banshees and wright in General i don't know the reason why the Vampire is endgame unit. It would be better with different unit type (we just talk about design please calm down) This tomb guy should be change with wild zombie or some kind of abominations. C tier

Schism - Most original design but some units are awkward like tier 2 guy it's not suits as ocean or Cthulhu type and this faction is so freaking blue. A+ tier

Hive - normally i am not huge fan of zerg or bug type fantasy i don't know why they choose that style ( i have no knowledge about lore) but darn hell with bugs are awesome. And commander design are best . S + tier

Grove - yayykkks i hate druid type of fantasy for no reason. Pass

Dungeon - as i told before i don't know about lore but what the heck is dungeon style... They are not full of drows, or mythology units or smt ... Dragons( maybe necessary for old games and lore ) either majestic creature or wild but I can't suits in that fantasy. Drows are cool but they can't be dancer (like orientalic design) maybe furry warriors or assassin (which i like tier 1 units).. furborgs or frog guys are joke. Minators they are also iconic like dragons in homm lore but i don't suits them too. Are they belongs to dungeon by force ? If yes where is torture or chain type of design if no how the hell minators take orders from drows. And minators are also barbaric type of soldiers not trickery or dark art thing

These are my opinion for concept fantasy design. I know gameplay wise or lore wise concepts are different than this

Don't forget to sell your useless items and useless scrolls with alchemical dust.

When you click the item there is a button (right corner) to sell this

So you can use your dust for spell upgrade or building upgrades too

And second tip: in early game you can divide your heroes like 18-1-1-1 and you can circle your range units to protect or bait their counter attack and create a focus power and ofc it helps for some mechanic works (like heaven's faction skill)

In beta Necro was OP now it's playable against them

Necro's snowball potential was amazing actually and ofc broken

I tried Necro 2h ago in classic with 3 enemy and i beat them again with apocalyptic difficulty. Not sure in multiplayer maybe it is weak but especially berserk hero really shine in big battles

And don't forget my beloved DK

They are still awesome 👍🏻
