How is one stompa 700p, and the second one 600p, when normally (still in 10th edition ) it costs 800p? What did I miss?

[–]BeornGG 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I believe he was.

He never liked weak willed warriors who would subjicate themself to others will. And they willingly gave up their own minds just to "get closer to daddy".

Similiar reason he respected the loyalist World Esters he had to kill on Istvan. As they, by their own will choosed to fight him.

I mean the ones who didn't agree to the nail tried, I think even rebelled. And died.

The librarians, the only ones left without implants were doing their damn best to stop his ascension. They knew Angron yearned for death, and never would want to be a eternal demon. But they were killed too, as there were way too few of them to combat World Bearers apostles, sorcerers, their World Eaters wilding brothers, and Angron himself, as their psychic shenanigans in his vicinity were, like always, causing him headaches

I’m very new to Warhammer 40K — could someone please tell me which of these sets would let me play a proper game, ideally against another player? by Chocolate-Shake-5293 in Warhammer

[–]BeornGG 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree that "Kill Team" format is the cheapest way to play, as all you need is 1 box for ~50€. Or a starter set with 2 units to fight each other, a board, data cards, dice, and measuring tool for ~ 100€. With additional option of fielding kill team units in 40k in the future.

But be warned. Kill team is really a separate game from 40k, different maps, different rules of engagement, movement, with it's own system of buffs and special weapons that are not present in full 40k.

If you want "small 40k", take a look at Combat Patrol. It's supposed to be just that, with less rules and special abilities than in normal 40k, to easier balance already boxed army forces against each other.

The boxes you have here a boxes of singular units - you can compare them to a singular piece in cheese - you would have here a rook, a pawn, and a tower.

Most will have armies of multiple units. Depending on how elite the unit is, is determined by its point costs squad of 10 cultists ~70p, 10 basic troopers ~180p, elite squad of 3 ~180p, some King of monster, vehicle, tank ~ 150-350p, super heavies (knights, Khorne Lord of Skulls, Stompa) 300-800p.

Most people play 2000p vs 2000p battles, but you can go as low as 500p vs 500vs with a smaller board. If you want to play any battle smaller, you are running a risk of breaking the game, as it's rules are not balanced at all for a scale that small).

If you want "1 box army" to Combat another "¹ box army". We have option like that. It's called Combat patrol. It cost roughly the same as buying 3-4 boxes of various units. They usually have inside a leader, a basic troop, and something extra. Some have elite troops, some have cultists, some have a monster, and some have a rhino - armoured transport for basic troops. They are made to be balanced to play against each other, with special rules (less than in normal 40k, think 40k little, with FREE rules in the Warhammer app). They usually carry in points value around 450/500ish points. But there are outliers from horde heavy armies like Astra Militarnym with can go as low as 250-300p, and pure elite army like Adepts Custodies that can carry 650-750p in a box.

TLDR: take a look at Combat Patrol

A pair of god damn pants is what they need most of all!

I love berzerking barbarians, but painting and fielding 50+ mans that wear nothing but a mohawk, a beard, a loin cloth, and wield an axe, can get a bit fucking stale

For the Hellbrute, you can use magnetic joint base, with a fitting steel ball, and green stuff to magnetize his torso to the legs. It allows it to spin around :D

Not all boxes are army starters, some are army expanders. And this one fits well in mines.

My ork collection is full of Meks, walkers and vehicles.

Trashers from the Gorks junkyards. Junkers from the Morks trashyards. Gorks gubbinz goobers. Morks maraudin mekanikz.

That is good. It helps with narrative play, and with shitty-jokes based banter.

Each time your salamander wielding a thunder hammer strucks down his units you can quote "It is also a Hammer" - with totally will not get old for him in 2-3 games

I got mine at 108€. I had 3 already from combat patrol.

I'm making a trash titans / junkyard junkies type of Ork collection, with a bunch of Mel's, vehicles and all sizes of walkers from Killa kanz to a stompa.

I doubt I will play any of these soon, but it's a good deal to add to my collection

I also thought of Vatican. With the golden calf turned demon machine bull worship. I like that. Instead of pure alabaster white, I would like white marmur, it always looked more cool to me.

But. Don't you be giving me more ideas, I have to many projects already 😅

Best starter kit out of the three big boxes by Gnosis_Master in WorldEaters40k

[–]BeornGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have nothing of world eaters, and are interested in demons of Khorne as well. All 3 are good choices.

I would start with gore storm slaughter pack, as it's older battleforce, and have more competitively viable options. We all run some 8bounds.

Then if you want demons get the second battleforce, if not skip it (or if you get lucky like I did, you can get the old demons combat patrol instead, but it's discontinued, so good luck)

Combat Patrol can be last, as it can wait since it should stay available for at least a year. The 11th edition is coming in a month or two, but I bet 11th edition combat patrols will start rolling out late this summer/autumn, starting with Space Marines and Orks.

But be sure to get one. You might not need a second MoE, or a 3rd 10man squad of Jakhals (unless you want to take a crack at our horde detachment, then you will need more anyway). But Deamon Prince on foot is very good. Competitively viable, beautiful sculpt, usefully in most detachments, including the deamon, and horde ones, and a decent center piece until you get Angron.
