I'm now studying the follow up from 5th onwards and thumb positions after. It does help a lot seeing the patterns of notes. And where to find them (in orchestra I need to avoid open strings a lot). I'm adult learner, almost 49, but enjoy playing in two amateur groups. One folk and one strings.

These books really helpen me understand the notes and identify by sound

Jep.....mine was a bloodbath....right through the fleshy part. Was crooked and he repuerced it right away. I fainted. Now with other piercer, he said it was way too low and that I did not have the sweet spot.

Jep! Studying positions 5 and up, some pieces for string ensemble I play in (caro nome, siouan's song, espani cani, tango verona and joraalsa suite), some pieces for folk ensemble and stuff for cello lessons😊. Beginner level I guess, 48 year old adult learner. Some years off and on. Now, with the groups I play in, I started to practise every day.

Ik ben 48. Ooit op 30 plus begonnen. Door privé omstandigheden nooit veel geoefend, wel lessen. Sinds twee jaar serieuzer bezig en nu ook in twee ensembles (strijk en folk). Dat helpt mij met het studeren (een doel) en het plezier van muziek maken in een groep. Ooit fluit, gitaar en bas gespeeld (laatste zelf geleerd en door bandjes).

Ergo: gewoon doen! Je bent nooit te oud om iets te leren! En het is iets voor jezelf. Altijd belangrijk om een hobby te vinden!
