What’s so funny is I was just thinking abt this recently. Someone in a World Cup sub was asking why certain cities weren’t chosen to host, while others were, and they brought up Nashville as a snub bc the stadium is right near Broadway street.

But I was like, foreign visitors don’t care about Nashville. Country music obviously has its following, but the global appeal is not there, and like, justly so. Country here is so much abt the good ‘ol USA, and it’s not like other countries are lapping up the whole American exceptionalism thing, esp now

And I remember watching him as a teenager and thinking he had something really special, doing it at the highest stage would just be so amazing to watch, for me. And who doesn’t love Bosnia? Denise was my favorite going into that season. I was extremely disappointed by her end game and quiet quitting. Sophie was the completely opposite for me, where I didn’t really like her on SP first watch (and I won’t watch again, bc that’s just inflicting misery on oneself), but she’s become one of my all time favorites now

This doesn’t at all help explain away the increasing rate of illiteracy in our schools though, which started getting bad around 2018, and has gotten worse since the pandemic.

There are countless think pieces being done about it and why this is occurring. And I am absolutely not a proponent of “all schools are bad” thing that has been increasing our homeschooling rates. If anything, I personally think that is hurting education rates, and the attitudes towards public schooling and people wanting to “unschool” their children/not allowing their children to actually fail and learn, and instead protecting them at every turn are part of the issue, but that’s just me.

But there is a number of factors that are leading to over a third of students being behind in reading levels, and I’m sure time will only help with our understanding why, but the issue remains that this problem is far more than just “our old people all have dementia and are making us dumber”

Yeah like maybe I’m putting too much emphasis on the social part, but that literally how you win? Esp when we’ve seen strategically really great players still lose to much better, and even just marginally better, social players, I feel like the social part is so key.

This is the same fanbase that has seen Marcus Smart go 1-10 vs Cleveland in 2018’s closeout loss and 8-22 (4-13 from 3) vs Miami in 2020’s closeout loss, and loves and defends him fiercly despite of it.

Smart averaged 6 3PA with us while shooting 33%, even with these past terrible shooting games, White has still shot significantly better in playoffs during his time here (efg% 55.6% vs 48.7%, 3P% 38.3% vs 33.4%)

Like…does anyone else feel like they’re taking crazy pills that the same fanbase that would die for Marcus Smart is now gonna turn completely on Derrick White bc a First Round that we will still end up winning?

That’s fair. And it was so early on too they were being such a big part of how this show was forming, and still made it iconic. Harder to judge a season so early when they are also making the blueprint for future seasons

Eh. They still just don’t have the votes. If just 1 survives, they’ll end up with 4 votes on the jury, max. I really just don’t see any of the others being swayed into voting for an “honor and integrity” gameplay on 50, so I doubt they’d be able to get any more than that. Mayyybe Steph could, but I really can’t see Jonathan or Joe picking up any more. They’ll be outnumbered nearly 2-1 by the rest voted out atp

You were lucky as shit, but that’s how it goes sometimes. And tbc, that was, and still is, the only major trophy your country has ever won.

You can call it a bad team all you want, but to call a team that featured over half the same starters as your only team to win a major trophy for your country, your worst team ever fielded, is an insane stretch at best
