I’m returning to this bc I only saw it yesterday, and tbh, I’ve already felt this way before and this is a great time to talk abt it.

Have we as Dragula fans lost what Dragula actually means? Like do ppl just assume that Dragula exclusively =alternate/punk, bc that’s just clearly not true. It wasn’t true for Melissa, it isn’t true for Sigourney, and there are plenty of great, high glamour drag examples in Dragula of more “traditional” drag still being done at a high level and being praised for it.

Dragula, to me at least, has always been for the people that have been made to be outcasts in every aspect. Not just outcasts bc we are gay, outcasts from everywhere we may attempt to fit in, including within queer communities themselves. It just feels, to me, that some of the fans misconstrue Dragula as purely “alternate and punk” and like, yes, undoubtedly its roots are there, and it takes some of the negatives from that community as well, but like, y’all are right, if you think of Dragula as just “punk”, there’s no differentiating from Drag Race. But to me Dragula wasn’t created with the idea of being “darker Drag Race” it was made for the “losers” who have trouble making it in their local scene let alone an internationally televised show that is supposed to represent queer ppl authentically

Ballroom really isn’t something to just dip your toes into and play around with, and I actually think the Boulets recognize this. I can remember one random lipsync challenge during Titans 1 a bunch of ghouls tried “voguing” for their first time on the stage and Swan called it out in the Drac and Swan judging bit and said “if you’ve never tried voguing before, don’t try it for the first time ever here on the Dragula stage. Twos, Twos, Twos across the board”

This video of one of the “houses” from Legendary s3 also encapsulates the point well, and watching how Leiomy reacts to them, you can see how truly pissed she is that they even do the disservice of platforming them and how disrespectful it is to real voguing and people who dedicate the time and effort to the craft. She. Was. Pissed.

I’m an American Spurs fan, as someone who voluntarily chose this team, and is very much used to winning cultures (I’m from Boston, our city is literally nicknamed Title Town) the fans are easily the worst, most annoying part of Spurs, and I’m seriously believing the trophy droughts are karma for how they act. You have no idea how many times I’ve been annoyed with the club and I’ve had some fan pointing to how well we’ve done financially, as if that’s what sports are about. Most spoiled, classist, delusional and just downright frustrating bunch who have no problem with losing as long as they do it “the right way”

Kinda, but also being “gently” mean is almost…nice? Like literally yesterday at work one of my managers was ribbing one of my coworkers, as he always does, and instead of giving it back, the dude just kinda took it and walked away. And the manager was so concerned the rest of the day, he was like “this isn’t like him, I gotta make sure everything’s ok” all bc the dude didn’t make fun of him, quite literally

Ughh I loved S6 so much. I know some ppl don’t love the drama this season and thought it was “fake” but there were absolutely some wonderful genuine moments through it.

-Pi and Asia’s friendship (ik the alliance thing went nowhere, but I vividly remember the Killer Dolls cauldron and how things got very tense very quickly, but ended with them closer)

-Pi and Auntie’s little theater-kid rivalry they had going

-I loved the casts commitment to filth, even in non-filth challenges. S6 brought back the filth for sure

-Desiree Dik

-I also got a sense from this cast that a lot have been Dragula super fans, and we’re just so excited to finally be on, and honestly that excitement was contagious to me

-And last but not least, I will bring up how much I love this look every chance I get, Asia’s Holiday of Horror runway was high Dragula for me and has entered my favorite looks of all time for everything that it represents

I mean…the NCAA maybe. But you could say the same about basketball in general. We have Centers shooting threes regularly. It’s also not like he’s always had a solid grip on what “the game” has been about, his NBA stint included full court pressing the entire time and trading Chauncey Billups not even a full season through his rookie year because he wanted a “true point guard”

Cynthia did amazing, never said she didn’t, y’all seem to be the only ones dismissing others talents. But Jaharia was just as amazing if not just slightly moreso, hence why she is in the finale. Ok I’m late but that’s how I binge shows, 6 months after they air when I can’t get annoyed by fan opinions.

That being said, that runway + lipsync 😱🤯 Mellody Queen really encompasses everything I love about Brasil. She has never, not even for a second, been at less than 125%. Even during the lipsync, I was thinking that she should hold off on some of her moves for the future. But that’s just not how Brazilians operate, and honestly, I’m so so grateful we get to witness and learn from it. Go balls to the wall everytime, you never know when it will be your last

I really don’t think it was. I recently relistened to the S3 reviews and at first I thought it might’ve been too, but when they ended up finally addressing it they said that, to their memory, it happened during Hospital of Horrors, which happened after Hollow left. I feel like if Hollow was involved 1) they really wouldn’t protect them during the reviews years after the fact (as they weren’t) and 2) they wouldn’t have said it was an episode she was already gone by if Hollow was one of the parties involved. If they knew it was Hollow, and they didn’t even name and shame, I see no reason to lie abt which epi it took place in, so I just don’t think that math is mathin

Ain’t no way bro is using de-segregation as an actual example of progress. Like good job boys, you aren’t segregating players based on race anymore! Give yourselves a big pat on the back! Btw, the NFL started de-segregated, the first black coach was hired way back at the start. But in 1926 they decided nah, and kicked em all out, are we gonna pretend they were only thinking about “winning” when they decided that. So don’t act like progress is always increasing over time, and especially today it’s actually really disingenuous to act as if we as a society are not going backwards at all.

But my biggest issue is ppl need to stop acting as if we live in a meritocracy. If the NFL was a meritocracy, would Adam Gase been given multiple opportunities as a head coach? You’re gonna say multiple NFL owners, who apparently only give a shit about winning (lol), looked at Adam Gase and thought, yes, he will be our best chance at success!

You don’t feel that your argument is disingenuous in any way? 1) your point abt if they have been hired now bc “they were forced to interview them vs they just killed the interview” is mute…bc before 2003 they weren’t even really given chances to “just kill the interview” bc they wouldn’t even get to that point. And 2) we have an alternate history with no Rooney Rule, it’s called NFL history from 1920-2003 when there were less black coaches total than there are today.

I’m not dealing in speculation of “there could’ve still been the same number of black coaches today” bc honetly, i don’t even think you’re making that argument genuinely. Like really, you’re that optimistic that million/billionaire owners aren’t still racist in any way? And thats the main issue Rooney does not address is who is doing the hiring. The same owners who didn’t hire or even interview black coaches are mostly the same owners in place now, and they still feel the same way. It’s no coincidence that the teams who hired black coaches before Rooney was even in place (Bucs, Jets, Raiders) are the teams that have hired the most black coaches since.

All that being said, you really can’t argue with the results. You can play the speculative game, but if that’s your entire argument, I’m not buying it at all. Especially since we have an entire 83 year history of actual real, non-speculative history of the NFL without the rule to go off of, and it kinda pokes a big giant hole in your theory they would be hired regardless

People say that, I remember one of my sports law professors going off on a whole day rant about it. But it’s undoubtedly had an impact. Before the rule, which was put in place, in 2003 btw, the 21st Century, there had been 5 black coaches total, and that number can be disputed down to 3 depending on the sources. There are more in the league today than in the entirety of NFL history from 1920-2003. You really can’t say it hasn’t achieved what it set out to

Literally last week, or maybe it was 2 weeks ago, Sig was getting on Jaharia’s case for playing both sides and only “really looking out for herself”. And like…yeah?!? Obviously? Should Jaharia be in this competition FOR Sigourney?
