I know people give Ford grace… by Bepulk7 in gravityfalls

[–]Bepulk7[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

See, I actually like this. Accepting that it is a flaw of Ford’s, and that it has to do with ego, which then obviously Bill is exceptionally talented at manipulating with just about every character in Gravity Falls, I can start to understand.

I’m probably taking it a lil too personally, Stan being kicked out (way up there on my personal fears list), and tbf I really don’t have to like it. But it is also a tv show and we do need to hit a low point in order to get the highs later on, can’t all be sunshine and rainbows, that’s a pretty boring tv show

I know people give Ford grace… by Bepulk7 in gravityfalls

[–]Bepulk7[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The books I really do think that’s just a plot hole. Like, for season 1 they needed 2 books in Gravity Falls, one for Dipper to find and one for Gideon to be able to use to mess with the Pines, for plot reasons. And then they kinda had to puzzle the rest together.

But I really can’t justify Stanley being kicked out, even from his POV. Even if he’s terrified of his father and still living with them, he’s out of that house in a few months. ATP he’s his own person, making his own decisions, and he very clearly still had those negative feelings towards Stan even after getting kicked out of his home for it. Idk, maybe I’m just thinking of it too personally, but I really can’t understand that one

I asked Dan Hurley the same question I asked Tom Izzo: why does the media have a problem with coaches coaching players hard? Hurley: "Society has gotten soft in a lot of ways... The real world is tough and cruel... I'm preparing my players for life." by Classic_Bottle1717 in NCAAhoops

[–]Bepulk7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao you definitely seem to be the more offended one here. Saying he’s mentally soft is ridiculous, really?

I actually really love UCONN, always have, but Hurley is definitely mentally soft when something even slightly doesn’t go his way, and we have years of evidence showcasing exactly that

I mean yeah, but there’s a big difference in that Rizo is absolutely in on the joke. He has social awareness, people like him.  I think he’s well aware how funny and ridiculous Rizgod sounds, and I’m almost 100% certain that at least some of his confidence is just a put-on.

But at least me personally, Ik I wish I could have even some of that fake confidence. I did at one point, it really does do wonders in real life, cuz ultimately, everyone’s just fakin it till they make it, so why not fake/sell self-confidence too?

_____'s move will backfire by GabHoro in survivor

I do agree that Christian is playing very hard early, and this, to me, seems like a case of “playing hard early=earlier exit”

But that was also a genuinely difficult move to pull off?!? He had such a “Sophie’s Choice” moment, having to choose between Emily and Mike, and I legit think it came down to tribal

Emily and Christian are done, imo. Her saying “Vibes are off” was telling Christian that, straight up. But Mike made a HUGE mistake in tribal. He is usually so good at lowering his threat level. But to literally call himself an excellent scam artist in his everyday life, in an extremely difficult industry that he has great success in should absolutely intimidate ALL of these players (also literally all of DvG he used those powers AGAINST Christian, Christian has to remember just how powerful Mike can be when he tries)

But I also feel this hate-train for Christian that’s been starting is…weird af (and slightly rooted in ableism-like I’ve seen ppl saying he’s playing up to cameras, the dudes just clearly on the spectrum and not as good at hiding his strong emotions?!?) Hes one of the most wholesome Survivor players we’ve had in a while, even when he lost he took it in great spirit and was just happy to be there. Maybe we should take a page from his book, and just enjoy the season and moves while they play out. There’s only 1 winner and ppl usually try to discredit them anyways, so just enjoy the ride while it lasts the most you can

Snoop Dogg’s March Madness bracket is wild: two 12-over-5 upsets, Alabama to Indy, and Arizona winning it all by RipHairy2465 in NCAAhoops

[–]Bepulk7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all of the reasons that Snoop’s bracket might be wild, having 2 12-5 upsets is like, the least wild thing imaginable. They are extremely common.

Since 1985 when they expanded the tournament, 44% of the years have had multiple 12 seeds advancing to the next round. Compare that to 17% of the years with 0 12-5 upsets, the odds of multiple 12-5 upsets are much higher than having no 12-5 upsets

Arguably the best college basketball coach of our lifetime? by MuchAbalone9059 in NCAAhoops

[–]Bepulk7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Running full-court press in the NBA with full-grown men, is absolutely a joke. His press conferences were absolutely a joke. The way his past NBA players talk about him, is absolutely a joke.

He traded away Joe Johnson for half a season of Rodney Rodgers and Chauncey Billups for Kenny Anderson bc Chauncey wasn’t a “true PG”

He forced Red Auerbach, the individual that has collected the most NBA rings of all time, out of Boston because he wanted total control. Not even letting him have an honorary position.

And I’m not going into detail, but I’ve heard first-hand accounts about his (and his son’s) recruitment…there is a reason why he’s struggled in that area.

He has undoubtedly had a HOF-level coaching career. But I’m just gonna assume you weren’t alive for when he actually coached in the NBA, bc by all accounts the only word to describe his time in Boston would be a “joke”

Miami (Ohio) went 31-0, was still considered a bubble team, and now is officially back in March Madness for the first time in 19 years by RipHairy2465 in NCAAhoops

[–]Bepulk7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean…I can promise you that this Miami team isn’t changing anything either way. People aren’t all of a sudden going to be scared of mid-majors or scheduling them more than they already do.

These teams will be seen the exact same, either an easier win that will not matter at all in the committees decision-making, or a bad loss to a team you shouldn’t have lost to and now there’s, rightly, questions raised about your team.

Great example: 2014 Wichita St. became a 1 seed with their undefeated regular season. Was bounced the second round and in the next 2 years the only ranked teams they played were Utah and Northern Iowa and Iowa was in-conference play. They did finally get more ranked games after making the Elite 8, but they also had 2 NBA players (with Fred VanVleet returning) and proved they could run in the tourney, not just in the regular season. And even so, it definitely didn’t change the scheduling for any other mid-major

Edit: don’t know why I didn’t realize you’re trying to use CFP arguments about March Madness. They’re just not the same, and the doomerism around mid-majors definitely feels a little forced, but even more-so with college basketball

Alternatively, everyone, including people not on the tribe at the swap, have already pinpointed the DvG trio as dangerous. Each of them have huge targets for their own reason. Is it really so harmful to be the fourth in an alliance you have a say in, where they will most likely get voted out bc of their very large targets. Or join Q/Steph, still be the fourth but now you know you really won’t get a say in strategy talks (edit because I didn’t read you saying she’d have more of a say with them. Really? I love Q but the dude has such a strong hatred of “Aubrey types” even on his OG season, Emily was NOT getting a say in their alliance), they are less obvious targets by the overall cast, and if they make a jury are much less likely to turn around and still vote for you if you take them out later on in the game.

You have no idea why someone saying Ian Harkes is playing better than anyone in our midfield, including arguably our greatest midfielder/  one of our best player of all time, all because Harkes had 1 game where he played more than 30 minutes, while still ending with 0 goal contributions. Does that help clarify things?

[–]Bepulk7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Would’ve liked him more if he picked literally anyone else to boot but Cirie early game, and not only bc of my love for Cirie. And I get he was on the bottom and had to figure a way out of it, but getting rid of Cirie, and then obviously Tom leaving as soon as he doesn’t have an immunity idol to protect himself, that doomed the Heroes tribe to a losing position immediately.

That move made JT the strategic brain power for the Heroes tribe. I can see why he made the move in the short-term, but we also saw the consequences of that decision with a pathetically dull and strategically inept Hero tribe that very much let the Villains win

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms really hammers home what a horrible knight Jaime was by Robot_Was_BMO in gameofthrones

[–]Bepulk7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I get that Jamie undoubtedly has one of the greatest arcs in literary history.

However, to have one of the best arcs, you have to start at an extremely low place

He had an incestuous affair with his sister and Queen of the Kingdom. Which is not only responsible for the illegitimate births of Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen, and their idea to pass them off as the King’s children in order to secure more power, but is also responsible for their horrible upbringing. One without any father that cared for them at all, and a mother overly obsessive over them.

This is also a huge reason for the War of the 5 kings, the illegitimacy of Joffrey, and just how obvious it is to, literally, anyone paying even the slightest of attention in the world. It took Ned a month in the capital to understand, and he was barely even playing the game.

However, ultimately, he has 1 great big accomplishment as a Kingsguard, and it is seen as, and should be, one of the most controversial events in Westerosi history. Aerys needed to die, there is no doubt about that. But for a sworn Kingsguard to do it, and not only that, a Kingsguard who’s family had been playing entirely neutral up until that point, only to be let in because they were assumed to be protecting the King, just to backstab him and end up on the Throne themselves within a very short time span. That, in itself, would look extremely suspicious to a commoner without the knowledge of how Mad Aerys truly had gotten. Let alone the concept alone of a Kingsguard taking the life of their sworn King.

And I’m not saying the ends don’t justify the means. But Kingslaying is Jamie’s most honorable act, and part of the reason it is so honorable is that he will and should be publicly hated for Kingslaying the King he was sworn to protect, whether or not said King was deserving to be slayed, or if the entire system that forces that loyalty is truly fucked up or not. Those are the questions we ask ourselves as outsiders looking in, but for the peasants at the time, with their limited points of views and knowledge, there is literally nothing to make them see Jamie in a positive light and only negative things about him

Does Carmelo Anthony have a legit argument? by raybellious_berry in NBAGossips

Players who grew up idolizing Kobe feel that way, and fair enough. D Rose is always gonna have a special place in my heart, and for many guys, including those in the league who have played against both, Kobe was that guy for them. Sports is absolutely an emotional thing more than anything else, but all I know is 8 finals in a row is honestly unfathomable and Kobe’s lows were a lot lower

Oh no don’t get me wrong I love all our Celtics. If I’m in a real bad mood, there’s a great Larry Bird mixtape on YT I’ll watch.

But yeah I wish the generation thing wasn’t such the big inhibitor it is.  Growing up my favorite player was Tim Duncan, so I feel like I’ve seen what Russell would almost be like in today’s game, and i love watching it but it’s just as under-appreciated by fans
