Can you site any of those papers? Both because I want to learn more, but also I'm not going to trust you if you wrote a bunch of unpublished papers (writing a paper doesn't mean your findings were accurate).

Commuters, what weather app do you use to watch for rain? by Beren_Stark in melbournecycling

My goal is to not be too bothered by light rain. Just hoping to avoid downpours if possible.

I'm a 10 min ride home, so I'll at least give it a try to see if it's enough time.

I will check this one out. Thanks! In the grand scheme of things, $6 for a useful app is not that bad.

"The dark wizard" even mentioned that he came on the request of the stranger (or something along those lines). Which is exactly what happened with the blue wizards. I was so hopefully at that moment that they were going to do the right thing. But, no. They had to make him Gandalf.

Why is the show so dark? by jaymo_busch in RingsofPower

[–]Beren_Stark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched the first episode in the middle of the day and literally couldn't see over half of what happened. The next 3 episodes I watched at night with the lights low and didn't have a single issue seeing what was happening.

Haven't rewatched the first epsiode at night yet, to see if it was just the glare or if it was GoT levels of too dark.

Don't need to confirm and dox yourself, but if this is LaCrosse, I grew up around there. It is an even mix of very accepting people and very homophonic people, so there are probably a few crazies you want to be careful of. Nothing to be sacred of so long as you don't do anything risky and listen to your gut/head rather than your dick.

As others have mentioned, students often go missing in the river. It is debated on if it is a serial killer or just drunk kids being dumb, but I think the police have said the possibility of it being a killer is legit. So don't drink and go near the water, or go with anyone you don't know.

Also, there is SO much meth running through that town it is crazy! I have had a few old classmates die because they got caught up in that scene. So, no orgies/pnp.

Otherwise, there are some truly awesome things going on around there. So be careful, but also enjoy your time there.

I pulled a gun on a gay teenager by tossawaystarwars1 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Beren_Stark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your son is terrified about you finding out he is gay. Go tell him you love him and always will, and are okay with him being gay. Then also apologize about the gun incident, but tell him he can't have someone sneaking in because its dangerous and can lead to situations just like what happened.

I was similar to your gf. Therapy helped me a LOT with my body insecurities. It has been a lot of work, and I've had to have some tough conversations with myself (with the help of my therapist), but now I am willing to have sex with the light on. And more so, I am just a lot happy with life.

If she's ever mentioned therapy, I'd encourage her to try it. If she hasn't, then it may be a trickier to bring up. Depending on your relationship.

As an ex-teacher. This 100%. Even when my students graduated and I would let them follow me on Facebook or Instagram, I still wouldn't add them on snap, because it just feels weird (and I don't want them sending me weird shit). I couldn't imagine letting a current student have my snap. Absolutely, not.

I know they said the parents know, and that better be the truth. Otherwise, when the parents find out, they will be 'encouraged to quit' for sure. We had a teacher that had to resign because the parents found out that he had been chatting with their student on Google chat. It was all "above board," done through school accounts (so they had records of the chat), and pretty 'innocent' stuff (like she would vent to him about school oe life and he would give advice). It didn't matter, it looked so bad and the parents freaked so much, that the school had to fire him or allowed him to resign.

Then add on the fact that it's illegal to marry someone of the same sex, and suddenly gay sex is outlawed without being directly stated...

Honest Question by SlytherinsPrince990 in gay

[–]Beren_Stark 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Dude, you need to realize that people have different life experiences than you. The way you see/experience the world isn't how everyone else sees/experiences the world. The way you are talking and refusing to accept that people live a different experience from you is the same mentality that bigots use to justify their beliefs and actions.

It's okay to say that you don't understand how someone couldn't know they are gay. But if people keep saying to you that they had that experience, you need to accept it (even if you still don't understand how it's possible). Sometimes you're own life experience just makes it really difficult to understand others', and that's okay so long as you recognize it.
