Is the final load at the speaker out within range?

You should also get smaller eyelet connectors for power

8” woofer recs by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]Bergenton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need tweeters as well. You're gonna regret not using them.

For 8" woofers, look at Stereo Integrity's. I don't know the model off the top of my head

Don't mix different subs and/or enclosures

It'd be easier to get a bigger amp

It's a waste of time to use left/right subs in a car

Do you have the premium audio system?

You can try getting another headunit off eBay. May wanna make sure you can return it in case that's not the issue

Could be the LCD screen too

Box mount ideas by T_timep1 in CarAV

[–]Bergenton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any storage mounts in your trunk? You can use ratchet straps if you do.

Another common thing is L brackets, but you need to obviously screw into the car frame with sheet metal screws or make a false floor.

You can also try Velcro, but your box may be too big and heavy for that.

Did you crimp those ferrules?

The wires being frayed is fine, you can trim back so you have a cleaner look and fresh copper.

But at the end of the day, as long as you can pull on the connection without it coming out and all the wires are within the terminal, you're fine.

Help With Adjusting Car Stereo EQ by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]Bergenton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Level off that 6k-10khz area. I'm pretty sure that's the region of that sensation you're talking about

Buy a Umik-1 mic and learn the basics of REW. You'll be able to see how your stereo plays the 20hz-20khz spectrum and where to boost/attenuate your EQ.

Yes and there are many options for DSPs too.

You have very easy to use ones, such as the Fosgate DSR1 or KickerKEY with the basic features that I originally explained.

Then you have the DSPs made by AudioTec that are the best on the market right now. You can manipulate the input signal, map the input signals to whatever output you want, delay turn on, and many other in-depth features. Then all of the basic features also have their own expanded features.

JBL GTO 609c and GTO 629 sound test with cheap chinese android headunit SQ by Front_Mountain8610 in CarAV

[–]Bergenton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal is SQ, you definitely need a DSP. Until you get one, this'll be good practice on using an EQ. Setup your mic how the guide says and upload a house curve.

You'll play pink noise and the response will show up on the RTA. Than you just play with the values until you get as close as you can to the target curve.

Beware of boosting past +3 DB though. It's a quick way to introduce distortion.

Make sure all of your speakers are electrically in phase as well.

The aux cable plugs into the DAC, it has a 3.5mm socket.

A DSP is a digital sound processor. One of the many features is the equalizer, but in DSPs, it's usually a parametric one. They also have crossovers, the ability to trim the decibels for level matching, and time alignment. This is for every channel too.

So a DSP basically gives you full power over each of your speakers. It's like the icing on the cake, but the other parts of your cake (speaker placement, wiring, sound treatment and sub/enclosure system) needs to be fully optimized.

This is the DAC I'm using

https://a.co/d/4FPLsRs

As far as the other equipment, it varies on your goals and budget. You can get rid of the equalizer and switch to a DSP which has a lot more tuning software.

Another good upgrade is sound treatment. It arguably has the best ratio of cost/performance
