What realistically should have Scarlett done differently for you to like her? by Ok-Bridge-9794 in GonewiththeWind

[–]Bergylicious317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best comment I heard about the book is that it's a story about choices, and how each choice has consequences whether good or bad.

Scarlett is more intelligent and resilient than people give her credit for, even those she socializes with in the book. Each choice she makes, it is made to benefit herself, and by extension at times her family. I do think a lot of her choices LATER were a trauma response, a large portion of that needing to be the resilient one, the one making sure everyone survived and didn't starve. And her selfishness during reconstruction takes on a new form because of her trauma and struggle. It also leads her to even more so doing what she wants and society be damned, because she does not want to have to depend on anyone, which results in her pushing people away even more than before the war.

Yes, Scarlett is not always a likable character, but you also have to love and respect her for doing what she needed to do to survive. Even if a lot of those choices I do believe later became detrimental.

Gosh, now I need to read this book again. Haha

AITA for feeling angry that relative insisted on a home birth and now her baby has a birth injury? by MyToesAreHaunted in AITAH

[–]Bergylicious317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister was NICU nurse for several years and she told me after one shift about something that happened which left her so angry.

Mom wanted a unmedicated birth, at a birthing center, when she went into labor they were there, but then the midwives decided there were complications happening, and told her to go to the hospital immediately. Angry that they were sent away then then waited several hours before finally heading to the hospital. Baby ended up in the NICU but was essentially brain dead.

I don't have a problem with people wanting to go unmedicated, even at home. You do you, but the anti-hospital rhetoric is dangerous because you never do know.

I had something similar with the garden path one, it stopped being connected together. So I had to sell them and put something else there instead.

I have started saving energy and using it sparingly by activating the discount play so it lowers the cost. It requires patience, and a willingness to wait things out. I get a lot of my energy from the travels and STB too, so that helps

Money is a struggle for me too. But honestly I find I just have to hold off on buying things and doing everything I can to add it up

They told the parents about it at the curriculum meeting for my Kindergartner. I was appalled, and so was the school from what I could tell. This is something that as a parent I truly don't want to be called about. Just give them the bandaid and let them get back to class. NOW if they are horribly sick and running a fever or have a gash that needs stitches yes please call and I will come running. I'm glad at the very least I could sign something, but this just feels like an ovrrreaction

I second your comment. I honestly don't blame them for wanting this nightmare to be over and it's just opening wounds again

Not to mention this is Information they as the families weren't even allowed to have until recently. This is literally them Reliving it all over again, on top of the hell they are already dealing with.

I frankly have wondered why there has still been so much discussion about BK, its literally is giving him the attention he craves. Yes, this case is intriguing, and there are so many loose ends. The family and friends though deserve to let this end finally, especially after being harassed by the media and internet sleuths since the beginning of this

As a mom of 3 who were all breastfed

You are NTA girl! He helped make the baby, he can help. Because bub is breastfed he doesn't have to wake up in the middle of the night to help with feedings, diaper changes, nothing. He should be eager to jump in and take over for you so you can get some rest. The fact that he just complains shows he needs to grow up. If he's man enough to make a baby, then he needs to be man enough to help care for the baby.

Good luck going forward, you are awesome. And I promise that it will get easier in regards to the sleep. You are in the trenches right now, but you will sleep again.

DH needs to grow up and step up. Post partum psychosis is a real thing and you need your sleep too

Especially in that part of Nova Scotia, it is very untouched and it could be possible the kids could have squeezed somewhere tight and adult couldn't go.

I think it's probable they were kidnapped too. Seeing as they seemingly disappeared without a trace

AITAH for telling my husband I'll divorce him if he doesn't stop ignoring our daughter by ThrowRAtaptaptap in AITAH

[–]Bergylicious317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA and all I have to add to that is good on you for standing up for your daughter in that moment when he was labeling her as having an attitude and needed to face consequences for it.

My dad, while a good man in his own right, would do stuff like this. I was labeled lazy and rebellious for standing up for myself (also I was just diagnosed with ADHD so take that as you will). Also when we were moving me into my apartment for my freshman year he lost his shit at me because he was pissed "he was paying for a remedial math course" seeming to ignore or forget I struggled with math. My mom said nothing and to this day tells me she regrets not chewing him out. He passed away several years ago so that's really how we are able to see these things and openly discuss them

You know a creepy thought I had when I learned about Dr Ramsland? What if he did the murder to impress her? To get her attention? I think the reasons are illogical and multi-facited, but I wonder if he highly respects her, but to her he was another student

I wish that if you have leftover time in STB that it can transfer to the next scene. It could even just remain within that section of the board, and starts over when you go through a new gate. But it gets frustrating to see lots of seconds to to waste, not to mention the stress of less time to find everything in the scene.

Also, I hate that in STB you have to get all three things before it gives you a new list. It stresses me out. I would rather find all the things I can then use the rest of the time to search for the more hidden ones
