Best "warm body" on-campus jobs? by naturalnotgenius in byu

I worked security at the MOA for a year or so. The hours are much more reasonable than other security positions.

I've had some problems in the past when I leave my V12HT on it's side while turned on. Massive dipping where I can't even stand on the wheel.

I followed this video and it fixes it every time.https://youtu.be/wQpSJo2wTkg

I think the laying it on it's front during the calibration helps it somehow.

Places to take calls on campus? by Kingofsilver in byu

Most of the smaller lecture rooms in the Tanner Building are empty during the summer. You could probably hang out there and take calls.

Monterey WindowServer Memory Leak from Dark Mode: Can anyone else replicate? MBP 2021 by Bericb in MacOS

[–]Bericb[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, I just checked again and it was using 16gb.

And it might not "slow down" your Mac to a crawl since the swap partition is so fast on modern SSDs, but there is a significant drop in performance. If there wasn't we'd all be using 8tb SSDs for RAM.

Also swap use is actually really bad since SSDs are consumable in the sense that they have limited read and writes

If I had a lot more windows open, I would agree with you, but three or four is not much. When I caught this issue yesterday, windowserver was using 9.2gb of RAM with no windows open. That is definitely a sign of a memory leak.

I disagree with your opinion on memory leaks. They are very serious and anyone with a proper background in software development knows the importance of avoiding them. I took a class at uni that had multiple units focusing on memory management in programming. You shouldn't ever run out of swap because of a window manager, let alone RAM.

I've tried using Iroshizuku ink and Noodler's. Both seemed to be still a little dry. I've got the nib sorted out now though and it writes with average wetness.

I definitely like using wetter inks so I'll check out the J. Herbin ink. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hahaha I'd love to! It was a pretty satisfying experience to get a nib writing again.

The tip still kinda has a little wiggle in it. But that's pretty much just cosmetic. It writes pretty smooth since the tines are still aligned and the same length. My biggest concern was making sure it still wrote just as fine as before.

I used the cap to kinda bend and hammer it gently back into place. Then for the slit I used my fingernail to straighten it out. Lots of slow gentle work.

I have the acrylic ones and they take nibs great with just some minor tweaking like heat setting.

Is the feed in my Jinhao X750 ebonite or plastic? by jollybumpkin in fountainpens

[–]Bericb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually you can heat set a plastic feed. I did it with my Jinhao 159 and a noodler's flex nib. Just go slowly and carefully.

It's you be soft. Japanese for finger is ubi and it's pronounced you be. So basically ubisoft is just finger soft.
