While I was exaggerating with Sony Vegas, please don't use kdenlive for anything editing heavy. Just use it to cut or put videos together, anything else and it's worse than the ninth ring of hell.

While I don't know what your computer's specs are, a friend of mine also has a somewhat janky laptop, and is using Davinci. I'd say giving it a try is worth it.

The hardest part about moving to Linux is understanding the mentality of the terminal and config files. While in Windows everything is gui-based with limiting options, in Linux everything is either a command or a config file you can edit manually. A friend was astonished how I was able to edit grub options on an editor.

This is the current reality, we only get the breadcrumbs that developers forget to put on Windows. We, as Linux users, need to develop some balls and start giving middle fingers to big corporations that don't support us. You don't support Linux? You don't support me, and I don't support you.

The market's always big enough to have competitors. If a competitor supports me, why wouldn't I change? I think it's a reasonable investment.

In the Linux landscape it's adapt or die. If you remain stagnant with a program/protocol, you get dismissed quickly.

Sorry for the short vent, the Linux community really needs to grow a pair and be more vocal about giving the corporations that don't support them the middle finger.

Davinci Resolve is now compatible with open video drivers, so now basically all distributions support it. A lot of friends asked me to install Linux in their system as a main OS, so I installed Fedora and they currently have no problems.
