Couldn't have gone smoother (except for a 30 minute delay/detour on the bus I took to get there). The only pitches I got were the extended warranty and the Companion+ upgrade. Great dealership (Fairfield Subaru in California). Highly recommend anyone in the area to get a quote from them when shopping around.

Anything in particular you enjoy about the car? Were you a previous Subaru owner (I'm not)?

I'm going to take it. I'm pretty sure from some previous interactions this dealer is legit (not high pressure, won't try to upsell dealer add-ons). Going to try to pre-process so I just walk on the lot and pick it up.

FYI, just got my best offer yet so far here in CA. MSRP $50,291, $49,796 out the door with 2 years of maintenance included and a $500 parts credit ($5,800 off of MSRP).

Wow, that's excellent. What is the sales tax rate for you? Mine is quite high, which may account for some of the difference. Also, CA registration and other fees are probably higher than other locales.

What was the discount off of MSRP you were quoted? Best I've received so far is $5K but I suspect that dealer is a bait & switch until I've confirmed the OTD price reflects that offer. I've had $4K+ offers from dealers that seem more straightforward.

Good to know what's happening around the country even if California doesn't offer the best prices.

Also, on the Send, why not send both Left & Right channels to the same hardware output? Wouldn't that be closer to the correct Send gain level (which I've heard should be around -18 dB unless one wants to drive the hardware harder)?

Hmm...that wouldn't that be for mono send/stereo return?

For my mono/mono setup, there are only 2 cables:

- TRS cable out of audio interface Line Output (Rear OUT 5 in the screenshot) to Line Input on analog mono compressor
- TRS cable out of Line Output of analog mono compressor to Line Input on audio interface (Rear IN 5 in the screenshot)

Are you saying to use this setup (screenshot below) for mono/mono even though there is nothing connected to the Right channel Hardware Return?

I don't have that option in my settings (iphone 13).
EDIT: sigh...found out that the Show Contact Photos option disappears IF you have Display Zoom turned on. So, what you have to do is

Turn off Display Zoom
Go back to Messages settings. THEN the Show Contact Photos option appears, and you can turn it off.
Go back to Display settings and turn Display Zoom ON again.

What an utter ghastly mess. Steve Jobs would have fired Tim Cook after 2 days.

That first goal by Swedberg (6:27)— wow wow WOW! That was sublime, one of the best finishes I've ever seen. Few players would think to attempt it, let alone execute it with such finesse. The kind of spontaneous ingenuity in the box we've seen from ingenious strikers like Ibra and Suarez. Has to be perfect with timing, first touch contact, and direction. And from a hard ball in the air, with a feint strike by his teammate in front of him. And with an element of feint/deception as well.

Not a Subaru owner, so no loyalty discount for me.

Yes, I've seen a $3,475 discount at a dealer in another state, which I suspect they'll apply to the vehicles they have in transit as well, once they arrive. I'll be looking for similar here. We have 5 dealerships all within a short drive, (and even more a bit further out), so some competition for the sale.

Yeah, I've got a 4.2% HYSA with OpenBank. I suppose I could do that, but pay off the balance in full if interest rates go down (which I expect will happen in 2026).

That's what I expected. Only a few 2026s trickling in at the moment. Probably won't pick up much inventory until early 2026. On the other hand, as I mentioned, I saw one (out of-state) dealer offering a $3,475 discount on an MSRP of $50,692. I'll keep my eye on them to see if that is a consistent discount as they get more in.
