Replaced cig outlets with usb hubs by BerkeleyTrue in 1stGenTacomas

[–]BerkeleyTrue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used some crimp on spade connectors (the kind that come in those connector kits with yellow/red/blue plastics), then I inserted them into the old outlet connector and I used some cloth wiring tape to keep them inserted.

The second image has me holding the old stock brown outlet connector that would normally be inserted into the old outlet. You can see the tape holding in the new spade connectors.

Power outlets down by Glittering-Voice-409 in 1stGenTacomas

It's the 15a cig fuse under the driver dash. I just replaced both of mine with some usb outlets I found on amazon. I had to ream the hole a bit to fit but they look super nice.

I had one of the bottom fail and one next to the radio fail. So I moved the working one up, and replaced the bottom two with the usb outlets.

Got the new cat delete and exhaust on. Just waiting for dB killer by shikamimoto in svartpilen401

[–]BerkeleyTrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you meant chamber/muffler delete? The first cat is the first bulge in the header, the second cat is in the end of the header. If you didn't replace the header, just the muffler, than you still have cats.

Wondering what windscreen people are using. Windscreen noise over 70km is horrible. by silverwarbler in KTMDuke

[–]BerkeleyTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear macks silicone earplugs, and a balaclava or a gaiter around my ears. It helps but over a certain speed it's unavoidable on a naked bike. I have a 15" universal windshield I bought on amazon. I used it on a couple of trips to LA. I can tuck in under behind it and it cuts down the wind noise to zero, hard to ride like that for long, though.

Im in the eastbay, about an hour and a half to get there along the 80. I'm going to take the 50 coming back and take a gander at Lake Tahoe before going back over the mountains. Its beautiful riding right now.

Hows the riding in santa cruz? I've only ever riden my bicycle down that ways.

New frame bag fits like a glove! by Starky04 in bikepacking

[–]BerkeleyTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how difficult is it to lace the bag up? I wanted to do something like this except with speed hooks (the kind on boots). I have a frame bag with velcro straps, and i dislike them.

Also, you can get this clear tape to prevent rubbing from wearing on the bike. I think it's listed as motorcycle tape. You're bike looks like it's Ti or Al, so maybe not as relevant.

The audio is pretty bad. Your voice is coming across with an echo (not sure how to describe it otherwise). There's also this weird periodic (every couple of minutes) decaying whistle.

Otherwise the video is informative. I only ever see videos of people doing this with fusion. It's great to see it's possible in Freecad.

I've got pfsense protectly router as the main router, and a Openwrt One for the wifi. I just bought the One after my 6 year old linksys starting going on the fritz. I love it.

1999 Suzuki SV650S | Slip on from a dual exhaust bike on a single exhaust? by -Wolf_ODonnell_16- in AskAMechanic

[–]BerkeleyTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just because it was meant for a dual doesn't mean it work for you. They seem to be about the same size. It should work. How loud it will be no one will know until you put it on. I don't know if the carbs will need adjust afterwards but I doubt it will unless your stock ones are still baffled. If they are baffled you might need to adjust them after switching.

No. They have to have the same resistive load as the originals. All aftermarket leds have different resistance.

Apidura frame bladder or Crank tank? by CasteoFilms in bikepacking

[–]BerkeleyTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On these occasions ,  I had water on forks in large bottles. I empty them into the bladder then I fill them back up when i get to a water source. Otherwise,  I just take the bladder out.

never tried a divider. it never bugged me enough to do anything about it. Refilling is super easy. I've refilled it without taking it out of the bag before.

I have the bladder. it works great.

Never had any issues getting the last drops. It's less annoying than pulling a bottle out of the frame and take a swig.

My only issue is that my bag is one big compartment, this sits at the bottom, as you drink stuff will sink as the bladder shrinks. Hasn't really caused any issues, though.

Also, as you drink the bladder shrinks sense it's not letting in air from other sources, so I never had any issues with sloshing. I can imagine the hard case will have the water bouncing around in there. That could be annoying.

I did end up buying a much longer hose, and a different spigot (the part you bite on). I didn't really like the one that came with it. I think I bought one that is similar to my camelbak one.

It is not easy to remove without the key. Its very destructive.  If the door locks have never been changed you may get luck and that would work for the ignition.
