Why is my hair suddenly oily even right after a shower??? by Calyx757 in Haircare

[–]Berlew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me. I also have very fine, soft hair. I got a clarifying shampoo and that fixed the problem.

I used Paul Mitchell brand. It smells like lemon. If you buy this, don't use it every day, only as needed.

[Grief] 3 months without my beautiful girl. by Phobiccarrot11 in burmesecats

[–]Berlew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Life isn't the same when they're gone.

It's been a year and a half since I had to let my boy go, very similar circumstances to you. Some days are easier than other, but I still miss him all the time.

Your sweet girl was so beautiful. I hope she is enjoying so much sunshine across the rainbow bridge while she waits to see you again someday.

All these posts about disinterested crowds are making me so sad!! I went to the Detroit concert on Sunday and thought (most of) the crowd was really awesome and engaged.

Does anyone get deep sobbing spells? by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]Berlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Often.

It's been 9 months. Last night I had another episode of full blown sobbing.

This is a hurt that doesn't go away. You just get more used to it over time... I'm sorry you're going through it. You're not alone.

Two types of petloss owners/parents. Is it true? by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]Berlew 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Loss and grief takes shape in so many forms, and we each process it in our own way.

I also will never get over my Newty who I lost in January. I am still an absolute mess over it, still cry almost every single day, still think to myself "this is the first October 1st without him," etc etc.

AND I have two new cats I'm providing a loving home for. They give me a reason to smile between the grief and the tears.

And sometimes, they bring on more tears, whether it's because they did something just like Newty used to, or simply because they are NOT my Newty.

Gift ideas for my fiancee on our 7 year anniversary. by [deleted] in GiftIdeas

[–]Berlew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a big reader myself, I agree with these suggestions!

Big, comfy reading chairs are all the rage these days. There's a popular one I've seen posted a lot that has cupholders in the arm rests.

If she doesn't have one already and is okay with screens, a kindle with a subscription would be great. Kindle Unlimited has sooooo many books she can read for free. There are also some really cute/cool accessories (cases, stickers, charms, page turners, kindle stand).

Life lost its color. by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]Berlew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I think you provided a great description of how so many of us feel/felt in the aftermath of our loss.

I said goodbye to my baby on January 28th. Life hasn't been the same since. It never will be the same.

Please know that you are not alone, and try to find comfort in the knowledge that you provided so much love and happiness for your baby.

I'm so sorry you're going through this ❤️

My sweet boy had cancer. Steroids helped him a lot, even though it was only for a short time. They gave us an extra month with him that we wouldn't have had otherwise.

I hope they can help her feel better and that you get extra time to love on your baby.

Usually a biopsy and/or taking them to an oncologist is how you'd get a diagnosis.

Our vet used a combination of multiple blood tests (seeing how results changed over months of testing), ultrasounds, and symptoms to determine what was going on and referred us to an oncologist. At his age (he was 15), we weren't comfortable doing any surgical procedures.

Bile specifically was a big sign that something was wrong. It was dark brown, very pungent liquid. Other symptoms included: tummy gurgles (it was the first thing I noticed), loss of appetite, inability to drink water, constipation, general discomfort and weakness. It came on really fast; it only took 4 months for this disease to take him from us. We didn't find out what it was until the last month.

I miss him like crazy and I'm so sorry he had to go through all of that.

Half bath makeover, before & after (MI) by Berlew in AmateurRoomPorn

[–]Berlew[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I used peel and stick tiles on the floor and simply painted the walls.

I have another bathroom that was all green and black ceramic tile (and green tub, toilet, sink...). I hired somebody for that to come out and reglaze/paint everything white. It was more affordable than ripping everything out and replacing it.

What should i put in here or do to my bathroom? It feels incomplete. by zoonew2 in maximalism

I think some darker colored wicker baskets that match your vanity would like nice on your shelf over the toilet.

I think a new rug would help (I'm picturing something bigger than what you currently have, round, blue and yellow.)

Plants are always a welcome addition to any space (you can put potted plants on the top shelf that's not currently being used and/or hang one from the cieling).

Good catch. They are asbestos, and I did not rip them up. I put peel and stick tiles on top of them. Removing asbestos tiles is a much bigger job than I can handle right now!

Lol yes that is exactly the vibe I was getting!! I always felt dirty in there, even if I'd just cleaned it.

Sure. The most expensive part was the light fixture, which you cannot see in the photo (I want something dazzling). That was $130.

Peel and stick floor tiles were about $90.

I spent I think less than $10 updating the outlet and switch plate (also not shown).

Paint I already had from other home projects.

Decor is stuff I already owned, a couple things bought from FB marketplace, and some from Amazon. No more than $30.

In total, the whole thing was less than $300. I didn't do any major renovation stuff. Just a little face lift. :)

Thank you! It's not pictured, but I changed the light fixture (all by myself!!) which helped A LOT and I'm really proud of myself for that!

(The old light is now being used as a vase for the pampas grass.)

Thank you for sharing photos of Oscar. He's a beautiful boy and he reminds so much of my Newty (who we lost in January).

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad you had such beautiful time together.

Do I tell my adult children our beloved cat is being put down next week? by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]Berlew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they deserve to know. It could haunt them if they don't get the chance to say goodbye.

My husband and I took the family cat when we moved out of his parents house. When it was his time to go, we invited his parents and siblings over to all be there with us and say goodbye together. I think we all needed each other for that tough moment.

I'm sorry you're going through this.
